I like Dustin Brown and I'll be happy to talk about how no one else in the league even comes close to him in terms of the ability to draw penalties once he gets traded to Detroit in a few days.
Why in the world would the Kings trade Brown and if so to the Wings?
They have a pretty awesome prospect pool but I was mostly just pulling Detroit out of my ass - all I know is Brown is on the block. Philly actually seems like a much more plausible option since Deano and Homer are BFFs and since the Kings will likely face the Wings in the first round they wouldn't want to trade with them...although I have no idea what Philly would give up.

100% conjecture on the Red Wings part of that comment - but McKenzie claims Brown is on the block to clear cap space for a Bernier-for-Hemsky move. No idea why Dean wants to tinker with his team so much at the deadline. He's made a great move, best not to push his luck IMO.

Probably to save his ass. Dumb to trsde Bernier and Brown first Hemsky (a UFAs who wants $4-5) and futures.
I guess he would need to be on the team to run the PP now that Rafalski is old and broken.
For the record, I think LA got a good deal. They are deep enough in D and are desperate for Offense. If I was CBJ, I'd have asked for Voynov.
My top 6 did have Johnson. There's some speculation that we owe him one because he consistently shows up to the World Championships (when no one else will go). He scratched our back, we scratch his back...
Suter - Yandle
J. Johnson - Carlson
Orpik - E. Johnson
Fowler

So apparently the BJ' initial asking price was Dubinsky, McDonagh, Kreider, 1st which is basically equivalent of Clowe, Braun, Nieto, 1st ...
Definitely too much but what if it was Clowe, Braun, Hamilton or something like that? I don't think Nash will move this year but if he does it'll be NYR - they definitely have more to offer.

The big problem with trading for Nash right now is Murray's health. Moving a d-man right now might not be the best idea.
I just really, really hope the Rangers get Nash because I have a horrible feeling DW is going to do something stupid like trade Pavelski for him.
Also just to stick the nail in the coffin of the Jack Johnson "debate" that I guess I was pretty much just having with myself, I totally forgot about this excellent post from BoC about Johnson's performance last season:

As for JMFJ, he never says no to the Red, White, and Blue.
And he was the only member of the US hockey team to show up to the Olympic opening ceremonies. I always think it's weird when people question his character/attitude/etc, it's the exact opposite of the Johnson I've seen. Very patriotic, dedicated.
If he makes a fuss in Columbus, I'll be surprised.

NYR would be quite the scary and formidable team if Torts makes the Nash - Richards - Gaborik line. Lundqvist blocks you from scoring, and the GNR (hypothetical...call it Guns N Roses) line will start rockin'.
I watch a lot of Oilers hockey because I hate myself and IMO Gilbert absolutely deserves a spot on the team, likely on the shutdown pair with Suter. He's played with nobodies, always against opposing top lines and is always flawless positionally and moves the puck north. Whitney on the other hand belongs nowhere near the team, in case his performance at Vancouver 2010 wasn't enough of an indicator of that.

If Crosby is healthy, they still don't get out of the East. Crosby is still the single biggest piece that can be acquired before the POs. Unless something drastic changes, I still really like Pitt in the East.
