My bandwagon team isn't even making the playoffs either...

I actually think I'll have to go with Nashville on this one. I'm a huge Rinne fan, and outside of Tootoo, it's a pretty great organization. Poile + Trotz is one of the best tandems in the NHL, and I think it just goes to show how letting them run through with what they want will almost always succeed if you have patience.

And I just love their mentality. Build from the net out. Exactly how I'd run a team if I could.

What were the conditions on the 1st round pick in the Carter for JJ trade. Don't feel like wading through that whole thread.

Believe if the Kings make the playoffs, the deal 1st rounder is this year's. If the Kings don't, the Jackets get to pick this year or next year.

That's a strange condition. If it's a worse pick this year the Jackets have to take it, but if it's a better pick this year, the Jackets get a choice between this years and next years? I don't get it. I would think it's if it's 1-14 they have to take this years, if it's 15-30 they have the choice.

Went back and looked at it...here's the description from Columbus beat writer..

Quote:
If #LAKings miss playoffs, #CBJ get their 2013 1st rd pick. If #LAKings make playoffs, #CBJ can opt for 2012 or 2013 pick.

Okay, that makes way more sense. Kinda a lose/lose situation for us if we get realigned to the same division as CBJ.

I have a feeling Columbus will end up in the East when they take a second crack at realignment. The NHLPA was pretty adamant about the conferences being equal numbers.

I know pique will be upset.

Miettinen put on waivers by Winnipeg.

Upset?

He's probably jumping for joy right now, knowing Mittens may be on his way back to Dallas.

That's what the Jets get for interfering with where he wanted to sign. Miettinen is just withholding his skill until the proper time.

I'd like to think our fanbase is much more reasonable and doesn't make outlandish statements about our players like other, larger fanbases do every day.

I would like to think that too, but the larger fanbases probably say hmm our collective opinions must be more reasonable than those of smaller fanbases

As long as posters from the stars forum don't make their way here, it'll stay this way.

If only he could use his shot more.

Was Sakic as dominant as Benn is? I never really got to see much of him until the tail ends of his career.

Well he's right. 5 mil a season for how Hemsky plays (And how injured he is) is absurd.

He may be right, but it's quite a bad habit when a player or ex-player evaluates/calls out another player's matters in such a negative way. At least I have never experienced something like that before, specifically using German/Suisse/Austrian soccer as an example, where loyalty between (former) athletes is of utmost importance for everybody. But I don't want to make a bigger deal out of this than it actually is.

Yeah, no, it's pretty gauche to begrudge a fellow player getting paid, but that's Modano being Modano etc. etc.

Yeah kind of uncool. What is Mike doing these days anyway, besides critiquing player salaries?
