Nicks my favorite player and all but it doesn't look like he's coming back anytime soon. If he does at all it might be to late anyways.

Whats the best case scenario anyways? Sneak into the playoffs and get destroyed by NYR or BOS? Bleh I wouldn't mind but this team needs an aggressive re-tooling

my first post on these forums. no need to say how i feel about the season. i think the caps have a good chance in this game but if things go south early, i fully expect you guys to be ready with funny gifs to keep us all from hurting ourselves.

i've been lurking for some time and i really have been appreciating you guys. it's been kind of terapeutic to surf into these boards during the horrible games.

btw, i sent a mail to nicklas bäckströms father (i'm swedish) asking him how nicklas was feeling. "not good" was essentially the response... i doubt he will be back this season, and i wouldn't have too high hopes for the majority of next season.

Just say no comment. Its between me and Hammer, what reporter is going to demand more. Hammer sings/ lies like a bird anyways.

I wish a lurking reporter would have the equipment cough katie to ask Dale to explain why he turned to the trap so soon here WRT his coaching ways in London, and this teams/Ovi's success bringing the mega attack O. I am still laughing about Ovi and his "skate" Reporters aren't needed if everything they get are lies.

I wonder if George ever said explicitly that Dale has sole full control of the team.

Yeah it's more like a team you look at and just feel sorry for because they were close and instead crapped the bed with wrong moves.

Dale is only signed until the end of the season, what does that tell you?

My buddy is coming over for a guys night. He's an occasionaly hockey fan who likes the Avs. I told him they suck and are going to miss the playoffs. So he's hoping they lose to raise their pick... I don't have the heart to tell him.

Knuble also scratched. Groundwork to sell (partially if not outright) being laid. What a mess.

That's what I mean: the Caps are my bad girlfriend. I put to much time and effort into them and they make me feel like ****, disappoint me, no scoring etc.

I'd actually prefer them to be an abusive husband, since at least they'd be showing some heart.

Still see Knuble as destined for St. Louis due to Langenbrunner being out with a broken foot for four weeks. Perhaps they'll couple Knuble with one of the other Caps for picks from St. Louis.

I feel like Knubs deserves better , his career is coming to and end. Let's give him a chance to win a cup cause it sure ain't happening here, right?

This.

The magnitude of the missed opportunities may haunt this franchise forever.

Well, at least now I can fully make that mental transition from "optimistic" to "bitter and cynical" again. Makes the losses funnier in that Schadenfreude type way.

Glory days is climbing out onto the ledge at the end of most seasons, or more modern era, winging the laptop.

OTish: WTF is up with Whyno? Isn't he a Caps Beat Writer FFS? Half is stories are about former players or BB and now he's the last person on earth to know 22 is a healthy scratch. Useless.

it's funny that our owner is the owner of AOL, a piece of technology that was incredible for a short time, and was later made almost obsolete by failing to match the better products built around it.

it's also funny that the hockey team he owns was once loved and regarded, and seen as the next big thing, but later failed to live up to it's potential and have other teams build a better product around it.
