While it fills Chicago's needs. I don't think they pull the trigger. That's essentially three first rounders they're sending our way.
True - but it's a late first, and both prospects project to be 2nd / 3rd line players - there's no 'elite' level there - just really good depth for us going forward.
His play in the 2nd half of last season proves you wrong already. He has everything you want in a shutdown defenseman.
-physical
-blocks shots
-boxes out forwards
-clears the front of the net
-good first pass -can handle the puck and carry it, out of the zone
-underrated offensive game

People essentially thought they would see Grabo for Mcneil and a 1st, for us to add Franson and just get Beach, I'd say that's a great deal for Chicago.
Basically I see it as Grabo for 1st + 3/4 of Mcneil and Franson for 1/4 and Beach.
So he's going to take a plane to Pearson, take a cab to the ACC, wait until early march, walk to Pittsburgh and watch the leafs/pens game? I think howson wouldnt be too happy!
nash is going to play, and ya howson is going to be mad on how good hes been playing for the leafs, and how burke fleeced him

Agreed - you also have to consider it's a sellers market. Chicago doesn't have a whole lot of options to get what they need. They'll know they have pay a high price.
We're in a pretty cool position where we have some extra assets waiting on the Marlies for a chance - we could make a move like this, and still push for playoffs.

That's an insane return. Basically 2 1sts for Grabo, a UFA.
Leafs picking 10th. (disregard games played) right now.
21st. overall in the league.
Move Grabovski for a prospect and pick.

He's a scout's dream in the way he prepares himself and plays an unselfish game, making smart decisions with the puck. With his bloodlines, he certainly understands what it will take to make it at the next level.

At this point I'm really hoping we trade Grabo, I love him but after seeing all these ludicrous contracts, I know he won't sign for anything less then 5 and we can't and shouldn't do that.

What players sign for obviously will impact what players sign for.
Leafs won't be getting any center if they aren't willing to sign them.

Sellers market right now, have you seen the returns for players right now? Moore for a 2nd?
Did you see what Zidlicky got?
Grabovski is the second best player available right now behind Nash and he's the best center available. It's the perfect time for us to move Grabo for a HUGE return.

Outside the top 2, there isnt much high end talent in this draft. We should fight for the playoff spot.
I still think we should trade grabo though. The contract that he wants is too much. Burke shouldn't give a 2nd line center 5+mil without figuring out who our #1C will be.

IF that is price then Hawks will just stick with what we got
McNeill + 1st is too steep a price to pay for a pending UFA
Not ideal to have Kruger as #2 C heading into playoffs but hey ,, Hawks will be in playoffs so it isn't killing us
Pirri + Beach + 1st for Grabovski + Franson IMO is more fair value

trading grabo means, we should take a shot at the lottery pick this year, yakopov, anyone

It doesn't do much for us. The 1st is nice, but the other two are risks. Might pan out and might not. Beach is looking more and more like a bust, and Pirri's ceiling is not more than a 2nd or 3rd line tweener.
For Grabo alone, I'd do it, but Franson is the wildcard here. He's a very steady defenseman, and from what I'm guessing here you're considering him nothing but a add-on. He's much more than that.
This guy is legit, he called the Carter trade, has a legit number of followers (including all the TSN guys, sportsnet, etc) and Dreger and Mckenzie have acknowledged the fact he broke the carter deal.

No guarantees #CBJ captain Rick Nash is traded by Monday's deadline, but might be best for all parties to have a quick ending to this.

#CBJ have set the bar very high and are waiting for other teams to meet their requirements. So far, none of them have done so.

#CBJ approach is that they don't have to trade Nash, but several possible suitors and the Nash camp are getting impatient w the process.

Might be best if #CBJ fans come to terms with the fact that Nash is likely going to be traded. Might not happen at deadline, but ...

... chances of Nash being with the Blue Jackets at the start of next season are slim.
I bolded the interesting part. I think thats what pushes a deal through to get it over with and just move on.
If i had to put money on anyone breaking a Blue Jackets deal, i would put it on him.
