Yeah, Bryz is a likeable guy. He was very funny in Anaheim and played well in Phoenix. Philly is a bad fit for him.

As for San Jose, that stinks for them if Coture is out and that will mean they'll be looking for scoring. And in this market....Maybe Shrewd Slats can get something for MZA from them?

Just noticed Wolski scored in his debut and didn't go minus in his second game. I really hope he does well. He could easily score thirty for them next year if given top-six minutes. No big city to presume him and he could do wonders.

Erik Karlsson with 65 points in 63 games tied for 6th in the entire NHL as a defender. He is also +15. Damn! Wish he coulda dropped 4/5 spots in 2008...

Del Zotto's not a bad consolation prize.

NHL Network: Oil Change

I can't be the only one who's getting sick of this program constantly
being aired on the NHL network. I can understand a mini series airing once!, but his is reoccuring?

They act as if the whole hockey world is watching in amazement as the Oilers recraft another dynasty. gimme a break. blantant PR for
an increasingly irrelevant franchise.

Exactly right. They'll have a new coach next year, book it!

He doesn't even play with Tavares half of the time.

He gets a lot of TOI and sometimes plays with Tavares, but the guy still has skill. You don't luck your way into the numbers he's posting. I don't know why everyone is still so down on him.

funny/sad that the Hodgson trade is TSN's big trade deadline blockbuster headline. Talk about making news out of nothing.

Do not know if you are serious - have you watched Ottawa anything?
  • 14 goals
  • 65 points in 63 games (over 1 PPG- tied for 6th in league in overall points!!! and 23 points ahead of #2 defenseman Campbell)
  • 25 PP points
  • +15 meaning his defensive play has hugely improved
  • Possibly the main reason for Ottawas place in standings
  • Totally dominates the ice for long periods - almost like a forward at times
MDZ is not a bad player - but hardly comparable imo. He has 33 points - basically half of EK.Think about it...

Not for nothing, but Karlsson doesn't play on the PK. There's a decent possibility we're going to see a PPG defenseman not even get Norris consideration. I like Karlsson a lot, but there are downsides to his game right now. This could change later.

something that consoles; specifically : a contest held for those who have lost early in a tournament

I won't speak for the OP, but I don't think he was saying MDZ was close to Karlsson.

Why are you freaking out? I suggest you look up the term consolation prize. MDZ is pretty awesome in his own right.

What you are saying is that we got a good player in consolation.True. I am saying it would have been nice to have been able to choose a couple spots higher and grabbed Karlsson. Apples & Oranges. OTOH - one can say that Montoya was a nice consolation to picking Malkin 3 slots above in 2004. NOT

You don't think Zil doesn't agree with that? If he felt Del Zotto was equal to or better than EK he wouldn't have called MDZ a consolation.

Not really down on him and I always believed he would produce up here. I know some Islander fans and even they are not in love with PAP's game.
