It is better than trading him for picks/prospects.
This signals he is ready to be a supporting player.

wooohooo! So happy, this gives 2 legit scoring lines for the next 2 years at least.

Count me as one of the VERY glad to have kept Hemmer.
Hard to find top 6 talent in this league, Hemsky makes it possible for us to have 2 legit scoring lines.

Let this be the first of players that want to be in Edmonton and sacrifice to make that happen.
Hemsky could certainly have gotten more on the open market, and while it's not a discount (besides term), it's what can be construed as fair market value.

Huh Chrome turned that twitter link into a skype number from France. Weird.
Glad about the signing. I wasn't against trading him but not upset at all that he's been inked.

I'm all good with it if he's healthy and providing some offense.
2 years is fair. the cap hit is a non-issue.

Great!
I love it.
How the hell could you complain about 2 years?

It's a gamble, in that I hope they really gave his shoulder a full and extensive physical before agreeing to this but the term is not bad even if he only plays 40 games a season.
As for Ales, good for him and Sutton for wanting to stay. I always liked him personally and hopefully he can now help develop Paajarvi's game. I think everyone can see something good is building here so at least that's encouraging that they want to stay.
