Hemsky could certainly have gotten more on the open market, and while it's not a discount (besides term), it's what can be construed as fair market value.
Weird I'm pretty sure that Edmonton is literally the worst place in the world to live/work

Well, I'll be damned....
I can admit it, I was wrong. I thought there was no chance in hell he was staying. Very glad to be wrong!
P.S. Take that, Flamers!

Ok Hemmer........we paid you. Now pick up your game for the next 2.25 years.
Hopefully he stays healthy and bounces back to how he was last year before injury.
Hall-Gagner-Eberle
Paajarvi-RNH-Hemsky
Smyth-Horcoff-Jones
Eager-Belanger-Petrell
^ Not based on how good they are btw. Speading it out.
With this re-signing, I really want Murray or Dumba in the draft.

It would not surprise me at all if he has a big year next year. Great deal @ 2 years.

Good compromise by the Oilers and Hemsky. 2 years at 5 million per made sense to everyone so I'm glad the deal was made.

Have to say plenty surprised, but good length, hopefully it works out for the Oil.

This is really cool news actually. I was in favour of trading him earlier this year, but he has been great lately, looked really strong, and this shows his dedication to the team and the city. I like it a lot. Thanks Ales.

What's Hemsky's ppg been the last 20 games or so? Anyone know? I'm pretty sure he's picked it up.

Interesting question now, where does this leave Sam Gagner?

A lot of money but it doesn't matter. I'm sure his teammates are pretty happy that he's staying.

Good signing, hard to find a legit top six winger. Lets see Hemsky of old now.

Its 9 in the last 12 games last I checked last night. Not terrible by any means considering he didn't play with either Eberle or Hall until the last couple games.

I know people were razzing us on the main board if this is the case... But wow, I love it, that is amazing.
2 years, 5 million? Low risk, small commitment. Great deal. I am so happy!

there is chemistry between Hemsky and Hall/Paajarvi that could not be refused, and Hemsky seems to be healthy.
does this signal a Gagner trade? i hope not.

I wouldn't be surprised if that played a role in this. He's looked more engaged lately. Maybe he's heathier. maybe he was showing he wants to stay... maybe both. Any which way, no doubt people took notice, myself included.

Guess I was wrong about him willing to accept a short deal.
Still my favorite Oiler. Hopefully he holds up well this next couple of years.
Big gamble on his part btw but damn do I ever respect him for accepting his kind of deal.
