Not me, I'm all for it. People act like we gave up Clarkson or Henrique(on top of the pick and AHLers) for him. It's not like we got another Havelid or Klee.
I don't know. But the way he used the term, and how he followe dup his analysis, you just knew it had nothing to do with the trap.
He basically said "the Devils will bore you to death with their relentless work in the offensive zone."
That's not really the point.
The point is he was rambling and did a horse **** job of trying to get his message across (which isn't unusual for JR) thus you have people on here with different interpretations of what he meant.
What? He didn`t say our forecheck is boring for the viewers.
He said our forecheck will naturally bore you to death if you`re standing against it (as an opponent) and can`t get anything going.
Slovak telling Americans what is Jeremy Roenick trying to say. Mind = blown.

I hope you don`t think this is Group A vs. Group B. The amount of people agreeing with you doesn`t matter.
I`d like to hear why were those comments bad. Specific comments.

It's Roenick and he'll always generalize and make questionable statements.
Eh, in fact, every comment is open to interpretation, if you want to. But there`s always just one "true" meaning. There`s a lot of grey in some cases, not in this one.
"Can easily lead somenone..."
Someone who haven`t seen the Devils since 1995? Those quotes are taken out of the context. He explained himself very well. The whole analysis was about how well the Devils play defensively, how well the system works (pinching, covering for each other, quick shots on the net, cycle), how physically demanding and frustrating is to play against such a system. No mention of protecting the neutral zone. No mention, no implying, nothing. BC can jump around all he wants, Roenick not only didn`t make it look like the Devils trap, he didn`t even mean to.
I`m done with this. Apparently BC thinks I`m trying to mock him and is pullling a butthurt kid. I don`t want to be a part of that. Not at all.

You act like you`re 12. What should I think of that? Yeah, now that`s embarrassing.
I was under the impression Roenick was talking about us trapping too. But I just ignored it and rolled my eyes, like I always do when someone feels the need to talk about our 'system.'
Wow, all of this over a small JR analysis which as always is generic and not interesting nor informative at all. I don't put any stock into what he says and look elsewhere for opinions on hockey. He says **** just to say it.

If there was no grey area in this instance, the collective group on here would share the same view. Not the case..
Now let`s talk on topic again. Zidla seems very happy to be here, I`m sure he will be a good fit.
Motivation does wonders.

Trust me, neither do I. But this is the kind of a reaction I hate to see.
I just roll me eyes; he`s a clown; what a jerk; of course he said the Devils trap etc. etc. It`s as biased, paranoid or fanboyish as it gets.
Good God in heaven, I really didn`t want this to go that far, but I think it was necessary.

You`re forgetting one important fact - collective group on here is a bunch of Devils fans sick & tired of listening about "boring Devils hockey".
Now that we know we both took a communication course, can I ask you if you took a psychology course as well? Do you know what I`m implying right now?
Look, this is essentially a fight against the stereotypes. If you asked 100 fans around the league how they interprete those comments, I`m sure the majority would say "Devils trap". But the majority isn`t really important. They`d misinterprete those comments because of the stereotype/because of what they`ve been hearing for years.
It`s a mistake.
I don`t know any other way how he could`ve made those comments more clear, thus he`s not in fault. Asking fans not to think like fans is hard, I know.
