Past performance doesn't indicate future gains. Now is all you got

I think it sounds like we gave up a bunch of assets but in reality this deal is what it is...

it's a deal to bring in a guy that helps this team immediately now and for next year, likely marty's last year. It sacrifices a little of the future in the form of picks a young RW. Foster was included to clear a little cap space and provide Minn with a suitable roster player to replace MZ.

Villeux was to clear off an available contract off the 50 limit.

If we meet the condition, I won't be upset about giving up the pick at all.

Not to be a debbie downer, but thats a pretty deep condition. He can't get hurt and we have to win 2 rounds of the playoff. I'd call it just the 2nd.

I watched him play the other night and he played well. He can skate the puck up the ice with confidence, something we lack. He's a good skater and can walk the line very well. He will do well feeding Kovy the puck.

Really didn't give up that much. Vellieux wasn't doing anything, Foster would be made obsolete with Zidlicky here. Really it's just Palmieri and the picks.

It's steep, but it looks like Lou thinks this team was a puck moving defenseman away from contending.
And we finally got the "PMD" after what, like 4 or 5 calender years?

I'm still far more upset over the 1st round pick we will soon from the Kovalchuk deal.

But I'll live with it because we have an explosive, game changing leader.

Couldn't agree more with Getzo.

This is basically 2nd + Palmieri for Zidlicky. The conditional will probably not be met and the other 2 players are just meh.

Considering the market it's not too bad (Gill, 2nd + prospect similar to Palmieri). Obviously it would of been better to give up our 2nd round pick considering WAS's position but that would of been a luxury.

I am happy to see Palmieri go. I wish him luck but he was going zero here.

True, but you said he hadn't produced in 2-3 seasons. And I pointed out that was at a 40 point pace last season.

Lou is damned if he do, damned if he don't. Palmieri and a 2nd for a possible 40-point defenseman is a gamble I make eight days a week.

Not a great deal considering the circumstances, but if the guy can move the puck I'm okay with it.

Maybe he'll have a Sykora-like Renaissance with Patty on the team.

I hope he gets rejuvenated playing with Sykora and Elias. Knowing that he already has friends here is a good thing.

again I like Zid. Not sure we should have had to give up so much but whatever. If his mind is cleared and he played to his potential its ok. I just hope the 4mil doesn't handicap us signing Zach to the level we need to if we need to throw the bank at him

The 3rd goes in to effect if NJ makes the ECF, I'll take it. Even if Zids pulls a Tom Kabs and just rides the wagon to the ECFs.

That should hopefully allow him to fit right in here. I've always liked Zidlicky, and I hope he can get back into form here.

Posters are actually pissed about this trade? Why?!?!?

Foster is garbage, Veuilleux is a career AHL'er, we haven't seen Palmieri in about 4 months and a 2nd round pick plus a conditional 3rd is what we gave up for someone who might play over 18 minutes a game.

Lou made a "HF deal", meaning he gave up a bunch of nothing and a 2nd round pick for someone that is actually NHL caliber.

Are people shocked because we gave 4, possibly 5, assets for Zidlicky who's on a 2 year deal? If so, look at who we gave up and if losing any of those players actually pisses you off when knowing we are adding Zidlicky, something's wrong.

I would've gave them our 2nd instead but what do you want to do when you are sending hot garbage the other way.

Well, the "chemistry" crowd has won it.

And I'm sure as hell watching the Top 6 now with an even more powerful microscope.
