I think it sounds like we gave up a bunch of assets but in reality this deal is what it is...
it's a deal to bring in a guy that helps this team immediately now and for next year, likely marty's last year. It sacrifices a little of the future in the form of picks a young RW. Foster was included to clear a little cap space and provide Minn with a suitable roster player to replace MZ.
Villeux was to clear off an available contract off the 50 limit.
I watched him play the other night and he played well. He can skate the puck up the ice with confidence, something we lack. He's a good skater and can walk the line very well. He will do well feeding Kovy the puck.
This is basically 2nd + Palmieri for Zidlicky. The conditional will probably not be met and the other 2 players are just meh.
Considering the market it's not too bad (Gill, 2nd + prospect similar to Palmieri). Obviously it would of been better to give up our 2nd round pick considering WAS's position but that would of been a luxury.
again I like Zid. Not sure we should have had to give up so much but whatever. If his mind is cleared and he played to his potential its ok. I just hope the 4mil doesn't handicap us signing Zach to the level we need to if we need to throw the bank at him
Posters are actually pissed about this trade? Why?!?!?
Foster is garbage, Veuilleux is a career AHL'er, we haven't seen Palmieri in about 4 months and a 2nd round pick plus a conditional 3rd is what we gave up for someone who might play over 18 minutes a game.
Lou made a "HF deal", meaning he gave up a bunch of nothing and a 2nd round pick for someone that is actually NHL caliber.
Are people shocked because we gave 4, possibly 5, assets for Zidlicky who's on a 2 year deal? If so, look at who we gave up and if losing any of those players actually pisses you off when knowing we are adding Zidlicky, something's wrong.
I would've gave them our 2nd instead but what do you want to do when you are sending hot garbage the other way.
