A lot of fans on here seem to think he's a great player (defenseman, right?) so my question is this: Who is he? Where did he come from? How old is he? Why isn't he playing on our team right now?
He's a Swede, the son of former Ranger Jan Erixon.

He was a first round pick of Calgary. They were nearing the deadline to sign him and he indicated he didn't want to play there, so the Rangers acquired him for prospect Roman Horak and a pair of second round picks. The Rangers then signed him and this is his first year in our system.

Check him out on HockeyDB (which is a must-visit site for hockey fans): http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/p...php?pid=112748

We also track him in our AHL thread: http://hfboards.hockeysfuture.com/sh....php?t=1052703

i think this is a pretty slick lineup for 2012-13

Kreider-Stepan-Gaborik
Nash-Richards-Callahan
Hagelin-Anisimov-Miller/Thomas/MZA
Rupp-Boyle-Prust

McD-Girardi
MDZ-Sauer
Staal-Erixon

IF the trade goes down, it'll be sad to see Dubi go, been rooting for this guy since he came up and did well with Jagr. The team he helped built is finally coming together and he might get shipped out to CLB, but it the end it's a business. Was really looking forward to see him and Cally raise the cup together.

Howson can be stubborn/dumb and keep Nash for the last 20 games to get something worse for him when hes UFA but the benefits outweigh to trade him now.

Although we still have like 48 hours till dadline. This can drag out.

I put more faith in Brooks in terms of what the Rangers will give up.

I doubt it. I think the main reason Columbus is considering trading Nash is that they want to get rid of that culture of losing that permeates their team (particularly before it can infect/further infect their upcoming and recent 1st rounders). I also think that's the reason they want Dubinsky. He came up in a winning environment, and he's the kind of player that will do anything to win. If the trade goes through, not only do I think Columbus tries to keep Dubinsky, I think they put a C on his sweater at the start of next season.

Much talk about #NYR prospect Ds being included in possible deal for #CBJ Rick Nash. One could be, of course. But #CBJ want forwards.

yea Botta they would of course have to take Erixon, Dubi, 1st.........I dont want to move Erixon , rather have it be McIlrath and hope the NYR stick to that if a deal goes down

Getting near the end of this thread and time to start thinking of titles for the next one. It's really a shame that the profanity filter on this site deletes a certain word. If not, in light of the recent comments from Nash's agent, I'm thinking paraphrasing Dave Chapelle would be perfect:

"I'm Rick Nash, *****!"

If this is true and Sather is willing to include any of these previously untouchable players, that is a bit of a concern. Although he won't part with McD or DZ, it seems like he is starting to cave in on some of Howson's demands if Kreider is now on the table. Just walk away if that's the case.

Dubi, Kreider, 1st is a great trade for Nash.

I think the best thing Columbus can do is get as many assets as possible. Flipping Dubinsky after we trade him to them could be a very prudent move.

Howson won't have a job next season, who ever comes in needs to know how to take a team through a rebuild. Build around Yakupov, build through prospects, but have some talent for them to play with. Look at what the Oilers are doing, Columbus needs to follow suit and use the assets from Nash to play catch up.

I'd say if Howson wasn't going to be around next season, CBJ management wouldn't be letting him dangle their #1 piece to the rest of the league.

Well, except for the fact that he already turned down one offer to sign here.

I'm not saying he was disingenuous about wanting to be at school, but you never know.

If he turned them down once, who's to say he can't do it again.

I'm sure hearing his name being tossed around in trade rumors (not from the Rangers, of course) doesnt help.

Pure speculation, but if the Rangers acquired Nash and managed to keep Kreider, I wouldnt be surprised if he stayed at BC for another year.

Plus, his quote last year was perplexing:

Quote:
“It probably would have put a damper on my development as a hockey player,” Kreider said of playing in the Rangers’ system this season
Huh? That was last season. So not only did he stay at BC for school, but he also said the Rangers werent right for him at the time.

Sure, Chris. The AHL is a terrible developmental league.

Both Brooks and Botta have pretty much assured that Sather will include neither Kreider nor Miller in the deal.

The Rick Nash camp said publicly that they're hoping Nash will be dealt before the trade deadline.
"We’re hopeful a deal can get done prior to the trade deadline that is fair and equitable for the Blue Jackets," Nash's agent said. "However, if a deal is not reached, then the list of acceptable teams will not change at a later date." There was a previous report that suggested that the New York Rangers and Blue Jackets might be making progress on a deal that would involve Michael Del Zotto or Ryan McDonagh. The San Jose Sharks are also believed to be interested in Nash and it's entirely possible that other teams have been negotiating for Nash's services while remaining under the radar.

Yeah. Still wish CK played in the AHL this year. I just think it was a stupid decision, not that he doesn't want to play here.
