I see a lot of players getting ripped on that had good games. Webber was good all night. Roy was pretty effective. Bandwagon jumpers in Buffalo apparently.

Weber had multiple turnovers in his own end, time after time he was getting hemmed in his own zone for long periods of time. Roy was the same way, plenty of own zone turnovers including the primary assist on the boston goal. Roy's shootout goal was really his only high point

Weber was solid but sekera deserved more ice time than him. Outside of the shootout Roy was mediocre, cost us the goal and had some pretty bad 2 on 1 attempts. Did see some effort from him on the back check though which I liked

Agreed, however I thought Weber was stellar tonight as well. Sekera and Weber were our best defensemen tonight. I thought Myers was terrible. He looks so undecisive and timid with the puck.

God Sylvester and Gare...

What is everyone talking about? Roy's sick pass to Chara was the best play I've seen from a player since Gragnani's beautiful feed to Giroux.

Well played.

G:

Miller
Little Reggie
L-E-S line, particularly L&E, not so much S.
Miller.
Defense in general
PK minus Roy's sick pass, especially in the OT.
Beating the Bean. That'll shut up my Bruins fan friends from back home for another...day.

B:

Almost let that one get away from them.
Marshmont
Tropp & Vanek's penalties
Being less disciplined than the Bruins
Serious lack of finish. Yet again.

U:

Marshmont

Wonder if the players took it easy this game due to it being so close to the trade deadline. It seemed awfully not intense for as good of rivals as the teams are and how much the game meant.

had the game on while drinking some refreshments with a buddy...think i basically only watched part of the shoot out..

So lame there was no RJ again....

Between no RJ, a crappy team , and MGS shutting us out this season is a wash...Throw in the towel , have a fire sale...Fire d'arse and draft one of the g's.

I suppose it's cliched and homer-ism to complain about the reffing in a game (and I do it very rarely, which is obviously something everyone says when they complain about refs...) but honestly, that was some of the biggest ****ing nonsense I have ever seen. I know we won and everything so hooray but this is easily a game that should be submitted for review. I don't think the league is out to get us or the Bruins are some favored, golden boys. I think the officiating crew in this game was 100% ****ing ******** and need a god damn lesson in basic hockey rules. Infuriating and inexplicable.

The good is: we got 2 points and we actually looked like a team who cares (minus 10 or so minutes in the 3rd, I guess...)

The bad is: it had to go to a shootout. The more shootout wins we pile up, the worse our chances become in a tiebreaker, which is a very plausible scenario...

This is why I love sekera. He may be our best defenseman right now. He's been solid all year. Perfect example of a player entering his prime.

I remember when Seksy put it into his own net against the leafs in 07(?). I picked that minute to love his Slovakian ass no matter what. I am so proud of him I don't care how biased or fanboyish it sounds.

Also, I had to leave with 5 minutes left in the 3rd. I didn't worry that they'd lose for a second. Damn.

Wasn't that MAG's last game in a Sabres uni? Could it be Roy's last... or penultimate?

I really hope management isn't foolish enough to think we can make a run at 8th. There are six teams battling for 1 spot and the 7th spot is 11 points out.

Actually, it's 6 points behind the Jets who are the team that the Sabres are really chasing for 8th.

Florida is a point behind Winnipeg with 4 games in hand.

It wasn't JUST that play but that was most glaring. He's too soft on the puck in his own end most games and his offense isn't good enough to justify it. But Lindy loves him. Vanek makes the same plays and he's riding bench. I need to understand why Vanek plays the same minutes as Leino. Can someone help me? Don't just say penalty kill. Not good enough.

That's why Buffalo is chasing Winnipeg (6 pts ahead of Buffalo, but the Sabres have 2 games in hand) and not Florida.

The good news is that the Sabres have 2 games in hand over the Jets.

To really confuse things, if you go by Pts/GP, then the Caps are in 8th right now using the ROW tiebreaker over the Leafs with the Jets in 10th and the Sabres in 12th.

It's really tight no matter which way you look at it.

My exhaustive list of players whose good outweighed their bad last night, IMO:

Miller
Sekera
Ehrhoff (though some of his shot-misses are Zhitnik-esque)
Leopold
Leino

-END-
