What the Habs need is a big gritty dman. The only grit we have on defense comes from Subban and Gorges, and of course nobody's afraid of them.

Emelin is a great bodychecker, but he's not gritty at all. We need a someone to do the job Souray and Komisarek used to do.

I think and hope Emelin is the next coming of Vladimir Konstantinov.

And I hope Desharnais becomes the next Martin St-Louis, that Tinordi will become the next Chara and that Eller is the next Mats Sundin

You know...your examples to mock my opinion are quite poor as frankly, there's nothing to say the examples you gave couldn't actually happen some day.

At Desharnais and Tinordi's ages St-Louis and Chara were nobodies...Eller is the one I have less faith in.

First thing I thought about

Emelin, is perfect for that role. He holds you accountable with clean hard body checks that opposition fear. I am not against getting another tough minute eating D-men

I hate seing Emelin compared to Kasparaitis - Kasparaitis was a dirty son of a *****, Emelin hits like a truck, but hits clean.

I don't see the defensive zone coverage issue that I see people talk about.

I actually see Emelin's dzone coverage as proper. A scan is not supposed to follow or help his partner while leaving the front of the net uncovered. It is the job of the centerman and the winger to provide support.
If anyone actually played defense in their life they'd know that.

Emelin is going to go back if he doesn't get at minimum $3m/year, and he's worth it. We have a Konstantinov in our ranks and you do not let him go.
