Should The Instigator Rule Be Abolished?

Simple question, should the instigator rule be abolished? In my opinion I think it should. I have seen several instances where someone injures a player and then someone else injures them intentionally when if the instigator wasnt there the player that injured the guy intentionally could have just fought him.

Definately. It'd take the pest elements out of the game and would allow enforcers to actually enforce.

Yes - a MILLION times over ...
Who doesn't think that way?
Bring back Ziegler! He had no problem with fighting, and Hockey was better then!

let the players police themselves.

if one player forcefully starts a fight when the other doesn't want to go the ref still can throw an extra 2 minutes for roughing to the instigator anyways. The problem is the automatic 10 minute misconduct and suspension if you get three instigators in a season.

I don't mind the instigator, if it is used properly.

You jump a guy from behind and start filling him, you get credit for instigating it.

Some guy nails your best player with an elbow and it takes him a little coaxing to go, that shouldn't be an instigator.

I don't have a problem with the spirit of the rule, just in the way it is implemented.

You don't want some of these big 6'4 230+lbs guys going around being out and out "bullies" with no checks in place...

TheSpecialist - MacT thinks he was that good of a hockey player when in actuality he was no better then a Louie Debrusk.
