What's next, scooping up Rolston on waivers?

It's not like we can't afford him. Guess we're all-in now, unless GM Joe gets a no-brainer of an offer.

Not really, it's the obvious move. They're in a playoff spot and they believe in themselves, as they should.

Does this mean Ott to Vancouver is no longer a certainty?

I understand the move. dallas has too many holes to be considered a real threat to go deep in the playoffs.. im not even sure they make the playoffs but I get the move. some of their players could fetch a nice return. this move could really sting in a couple of weeks... sitting in 11th place

Look at their sked down the stretch, IMO, they're nothing but screwed. Dallas plays Vancovuer 4 times alone down the stretch...

Doesn't mean they won't move out guys, nothing major though, like Morrow.

Now the only way I see Ott being moved is for a better player. I'll leave names out to avoid a huge debate again.

I don't think we can't make trades anymore. They just have to be hockey trades, not just picks/prospects.

Thing is GMJN made it clear they weren't buyers or sellers just going to be "active." So not sure I even buy this report or that it means anything.

I'm really happy with the last few games but their schedule down the stretch is brutal.

Would make sense. I understand Stars fans still wanting to sell because of the strength of our schedule but I don't see how blowing up a cap floor team that is in the 8th spot makes much sense. This isn't a cap ceiling team its a skeleton crew that hasn't had significant pieces added for 3-4 years now. Say we trade Ribeiro,Ott, Robidas, Souray, Dvorak, and Burish. The effect that would have on this team this year and the next would be pretty large. It would signal a full rebuild and management has made it clear they do not see that as an option.

These players, outside of maybe Ott, wouldn't garner a return that exceeds their contribution to the team. Ribeiro no longer being here would be terrible for our offense as he can't be replaced easily internally or through free agency. Guys like Dvorak and Burish would garner very little in return. This team lacks the depth a team spending to the cap has. Any player traded for what likely would be picks would need their salary replaced in the offseason to reach the floor. Even with the increases due to Goligoski and Benn we would still need to spend money to replace guys we traded. Maybe this wouldn't be such a bad idea if the free agency pool was any good this offseason but its not. Its not likely any of the big names would sign with us and the lesser names aren't any better than what we have. Add in a draft that isn't considered very deep and I can understand if Stars management thinks its best to keep most of what they have and try and add on top of that in the offseason or the deadline.

The only noticeable move that I think can still happen is moving Souray and his wounder bomb. We're only 3 points away from the division leader (we've played 3 more games than SJ though). I think if we can get a w tomorrow afternoon and make it 4 straight, GMJoe might try to add something Monday morning.

Sorry Dallas your not making the playoffs. Your in 8th with LA 2 points behind you, your also fighting off Calgary and the Avs. You play Vancouver 4 more times and the last 4 games of the season are killers, Van and Sharks back to back then Sharks again and the last game of the year vs the Blues, that's freaking tough. Good luck but don't see it happening.

If I was a Stars fan, i'd be mad. The goal is to collect cup rings, not 7-8th place playoff positions. They will be stuck in a good enough for playoffs but not good enough to compete with the big teams mode. Need to collect more assets, hopefully they can pull off the JVR trade

Yeah you just watch them beat Vancouver 4 times.

I hope Dallas knows better not to pick up Rolston!

Sorry Vancouver, I really don't see you making the finals again. Much less winning the Cup.

If anything, it'd probably be better for Detroit/Vancouver is we make the playoffs over LA. Who would you rather play, Dallas, LA, or Calgary?
