Mat Stransky

I'm watching him on NHL network right now and he looks pretty impressive, what is his upside?

I would say he has the upside of a solid 2nd liner, who could be a 3rd liner due to his size. Very glad I picked this guy in my keeper league last summer with the 190th pick.

Yesterday on Twitter I called him one of the most underrated prospects in the CHL and I stand by it. Guy has size, amazing hands, good vision and a good shot. Not to mention he is almost impossible to knock off the puck when he gets it along the wall.

The only knock I have against him is his overall balance when skating. He is still pretty clumsy out on the ice and can end up looking like a wild man at times because he falls down so much. With that being said he's really improved that part of his game over the last 12 months.

Very nice kid with a good head on his shoulders. Models his game after his countryman Jaromir Jagr...even doing the salute the odd time after goals.

I've seen over 90% of the WHL games he's played in since coming to North America last year and I think he could eventually be a very solid top 6 player.

With an assist tonight he now has 36 goals and 36 assists for 72 points.

Talk about growth....he had 26 points all of last year.

Still think his upside would be a good top 6 player. Still needs to work on his skating and balance a ton though.

If he's not a solid NHLer inside a team's top 9, he'll likely be a very good pro player in Europe.

Another 5 point night last night. Hopefully some of you guys saw him on Shaw TV.

Last pts in 6 of last 7, with 13 over that span including 4 and 5 point nights.

He sounds like Benoit Pouliot to me. Only seen him twice though

His style is remarkably similar to a guy like Jagr...who he models his game after.

Just hope he works on his skating/balance a ton in the offseason.

Has one of the best wrist shots in the league. Really underrated. His skating has improved and he has really adapted to the NA style, shoot more often look for the pass less.

Agreed. Often tries to do WAY too much....walking around two guys and trying to beat the third instead of firing from the slot.

He could be around 90 points this year if he quit trying to walk around everyone on the ice before scoring.

I was talking to Boes a few weeks ago and he said Stransky and Etem outside of Ferland have the best Wrist shots in the league

PA have been a bunch of clowns this second half. Very dirty team. When the played Brandon they were chirping all game but when it came time no one wanted a part of Ferland or DZ

Stransky could turn out to be one steal of a pick for the Dallas Stars. His puck control game is outstanding but will likely need some time in the AHL, where in the pros, you have to players hanging all over you when you have the puck. It will be a bit of a transition but one I think he can handle with reps.

His offensive zone game is impressive as he can make plays in space and make plays under pressure. As he starts to fill out his frame, he'll be a handful.

Signed with Dallas.

Congrats. A great reward for a great season.
