pretty sure that's how it went down. i've always liked wolski so i've followed his career as he came up.
Im pretty sure the avs tried him at center first. Waiting for that's avs fan to come back to sort it out.

Like ATF said, good to see them spending money. Knowing their relentless pursuit of the $ though, the spending is done with the expectation of cash returning during playoffs. Works for me.

Also good to see them actually targeting weaknesses. A significant percentage of points is due to SO and strictly special teams play.

This move will also shake up the squad a little, in a good way. It's saying, we WILL make the playoffs, if you want on the team, play like you mean it.....let's see if Weiss responds.

Looks like DT has pulled another good one.

I like this acquisition. Vernace was of no real value and a 3rd, let's not go crazy over our amazing drafting skills beyond the 2nd round.

We know what Wolski has done in the past and even if he's just good at the shootout, that could mean the difference for the playoffs. Works for me.

Also we drafted so many players the last two years, a 3rd is expendable.

Originally had Matthias on the 2nd line, just thought Dineen could go with Goc on the 2nd line because he is a more polished player.

pretty sure you're wrong, but it doesn't matter. the majority of his success has been at LW.

I like this trade...not giving up very much. Excited to see if Wolski can put up some points. At the very least, the new blood should put a little pressure on the rest of our lineup.

Even if it's nothing big, someone has to be on the way out because we have too many forwards.
More to come. They want to do something more (not my opinion). Whether or not it can get done is the question. We are not done. Like you said, too many Forwards.

I can't tell if it will be big or just an upgrade. My gut is leaning big based upon the response I got earlier in the day. They are playing that close to the vest.

I agree there is more coming but.. I think it will just be waiving people or getting late round picks for them. We really have nothing of value available to trade. Unless you count Ellerby and someone would like him. Dream come true for me would be...

Ellerby, Santorelli, another scrub, 1rst for Statsny or Ribeiro

Yep,Goc on 3rd line is money. Hopefully Madden/Upshall/Sturm replacing Barch when one of them is healthy. Maybe Santo gets shipped out.

Interesting move. I will judge it after the trade deadline. The salary sucks but it's only for this season. Might help in the shootout which we obviously need. At first I hated it but now I think it's a low risk, high reward type move. Hopefully his salary doesn't limit another big acquisition.

To get a #1 Centre we would probably have to give up a core guy and a 1st pick.

Do the Avs really want to move Stasny, and if so what are the rumours for what they want in return (not fantasy trade rumours)?

Would they take Goc, Ellerby and a 1st? That is a possibility for an offer. Throw in Santosmelli as well.

Don't skewer me if the big move doesn't happen. The big move is more gut feeling.

As DT said - not at the expense of our future.

But, the more I thought through the day about the response my gut leaned toward big. The gut feeling was based more on the past and what or how the response was made.

I don't see that being enough quality. Goc is good but he's a third line center, Ellerby still has potential but I don't see him ever being a top pairing guy, more likely having a high end of a second pairing guy. I feel like we'd have to throw in Howden. I would do Goc, Ellerby, a first, and Howden for Statsny.

To get #1the center it'd cost more than goc, ellerby and a 1st though. You could get a 2bnd line center for that but not 1st. That might be what they are offering but I doubt that gets it done. If Tallon could id carve s marble statue of him.

Hard to really complain about this one - team takes on salary, the cap hit doesn't matter, it might net a point or two in the shootout. If he does end up giving the Panthers two points down the stretch, leading to a playoff spot, isn't that worth the $862K left on his contract?

And like someone else said, the Panthers have so many guys recently drafted that it's not like missing one 3rd rounder is going to make that much of a difference.
