Bottom Six Face-off Guy to New Jersey

With the Zidlicky trade yesterday the Devils went from 49 contracts to 47. Today they waived Eric Boulton and now have an open spot on the roster. All signs seem to be pointing to New Jersey making one more move before the deadline.

The last thing they need is a bottom six guy who can win important draws and can play a regular shift at even strength.

Guys like Gaustad, Pahlsson, and Stoll have been discussed on the Devils Board already, any other available players in that category?

Steckel

If Toronto and New Jersey had any reason to trade, I could see Steckel being a random Add-on... he's not very valuable.

Gaustad came immediately to my mind too.

If not him, then Steckel.

Its okay, you can keep Steckel.

I'm actulaly not even sure we need to add another center.

I mean, when healthy we'll have Henrique, Elias, Zajac and Josefson.. that's a helluva center core.

Yeah but up a goal with a minute left in Game 7, I'm not confident in any of those guys winning a big draw in our own zone.

I want Gaustad or Pahlsson, but I imagine both will be expensive.

The Canucks "out-faceoffed" the Devils 42-19 last night. To me, the most egregious mismatch was Henrique vs Kesler.

If the Devils want to do damage in the playoffs, they need to acquire a bonafide faceoff guy like Gaustad

I'd be plenty confident with Zajac out there.

Not saying I wouldn't like to have another option, though.

Adam Hall would be a good pickup. Great on faceoffs and the PK. If your looking for a bit of offense along with it you might want to look elsewhere though.

Hall for a 6th or 7th?

the oilers sign ed Eric Belanger for his vet prescence and face off ability. He is currently 7th i the nhl at face offs with a 57.1%. Most of the time, he has played with clueless rookies so he is probably top 3 if he is on a veteran team.

Mngt likes him a lot but Lander has surprised. Moving belanger would leave us with RNH, Gagner, Horcoff, and Lander so that works OK.

Oilers looking for young dmen and the Devils are stacked with those. Could be a good fit.

I think I'd do that, but since it's a seller's market, you could probably do better than that.

Steckel didn't work the first time because he can't skate, he doesn't have the speed to deal with our forechecking

need someone with speed, too bad we couldn't clone John Madden from 10 years ago
