If they call up anyone just to be the 13th forward, it'll be Deveaux or Newbs. I don't think they make any move, as Bickel can cover a fwd spot if needed.
Hopefully they send ****ing John Malkin to the AHL and replace him with MZA.
So he can sit on the bench, play five minutes with Rupp and Feds, be knocked off his skates a couple of times, get no ice time in the third and then be cold in the shootout (where he's like 0 for his last 5 in the NHL)?
No point at all in calling him up. Trade for pick.

I agree with Mitch Beck in CT. He thinks Zucc is gonna go in the Nash trade. If not I still think he is traded before the deadline.
The guy does not belong in the AHL, he deserves a real shot at the NHL level and a fresh start. I have no doubt in my mind that he is good enough to play regularly in the NHL given the right opportunity in the right situation.
We need to move on past this. Zuccarello won't be a ranger again. He's a free agent after this year so they may try to deal him and get a pick back but just like Sean Avery the shipped on Zuccs has sailed.
The Rangers just cleared cap space to make moves at the deadline to strengthen themselves. i don't see bringing up Zuccarello as one those playoff-strengthening moves.

Isn't he actually a RFA next year, with a $850,000 qualifier?
Quote:
Because his base salary of $810,000 total salary of $900,000 minus signing bonus of $90,000 is greater than $660,000 and less than $1,000,000, it is increased by 5 percent for the purposes of his qualifying offer.
he has value, he's young and a AHL all star............he is going to be traded withing 24 hrs and that team will qualify him
Yeah, it makes sense if his (potenially) new team qualifies him. But if heīs not traded..... Why would the Rangers qualify him for another year just to bury him in the AHL? Heard that someone said that the Rangers are know for letting players go if they have no plans for them, and not just keep them in the club for nothing. Hope this is the case with Zuccarello also.

Well, at that relatively smaller QO (we were all operating under the assumption that it would be based off of his full compensation and be closer to $2.0MM), why wouldn't you keep him? In the cold, hard light of business that's good asset management.
Now, having said that, the Rangers are known for being good to their players and I'm sure that they're trying to move him right now. Failing that, if they do qualify him this summer, it won't be just to let him rot - they'll try to move him there as well.
The issue is that while they're good to their players, they're also good business people (well, not counting certain past UFA signings that will go unmentioned) and if he continues to hold value, they'll move him for his sake, but only when they get something back for their own.
