Moen to Canucks

Would a first rounder be appropriate?

Nope, a second round pick would be spot on.

However, Moen is probably not going to be traded as the habs have shown interest in re-signing him.

Of course not. You are talking about a backup 3rd or 4th line forward on the Canucks. Market value would be a 4th round pick at best.

He's not leaving Montreal so... I think a 1st would be too much, but if you want him it would take an over payment. That being said, judging by how many teams have shown interest in him, I think he could potentially get a 1st rounder.

I'd be reluctant to give up a second let alone a first.

maybe to you in your mind. But look at what's being offered so far. A 2nd is definately what would be offered at least (maybe 2nd + mid level prospect in a bidding war). How many of Vancouver's 3rd and 4th liners have Moen's pedigree (see Rings)

No market value would be a 2nd round pick at least. Not saying that makes any sense for the Nucks, but you've got Moen's current market value all wrong.

Habs seem to want to re-sign Moen though. That combined with the fact that he's currently injured would make it highly unlikely that he will get moved in the next 2 days.

Has anyone on Vancouver won a cup with anyone ?

These Vancouver fans don't want to pay and that's fine.

Aaron Rome played one regular season game during the season when Ducks won the cup. Ducks made him a ring for that.

No we would rather our 1st rounders not be traded for guys to play on our 4th line 6 mins/game... thanks.

You guys certainly had no problem with taking on our 4th line 6 mins/game players last year (Lapierre and Higgins).

If you don't believe Moen is worth a second in a market where Hal freaking Gill fetched a second and 2 low prospects, there's really something wrong with you. Or you don't watch too much hockey outside of your own team.

Didn't say he's worth a first, just saying that if your team wants someone, you're going to have to pay. Not say a player like Moen is worth a 4th...

Yup and Higgins and Lapierre each cost a 3rd and a long-shot prospect.

So ya... for a 3rd + Kellan Tochkin. I'd take Moen.

No but the entire roster has made it to game 7 of the finals so they obviously know what it takes.

I would give a 2nd for Moen though if that's the price.

Yet somehow Rome has 5 goals in his last 39 GP (regular season at least).

Because Travis Moen is the reason Vancouver hasn't won a cup.

Yup.

For reference sake can anyone provide a list of what bottom-6 rental forwards were traded for in the past?

How many have gone for 1st rounders? Which ones have gotten 2nd rounders back?

This thread is "Moen to the Canucks - would a first rounder be apropriate"

No a first round pick frrom the Canucks would not be appropriate. Moen would not displace any of the players on the Canucks first, second or third lines and he would likely only see spot duty on the Canucks fourth line. The Canucks do not trade first, second or third round picks for a part time fourth line player. Doing so would not improve the Canucks as a team now or in the future. The market value TO THE CANUCKS would be a fourth round pick at the most.

If the Habs want to keep him or if they can get more from another club let them go to it. It will be no skin off the Canucks back.

No not a 1st because at this point of his career, he isn't much of an upgrade over a healthy Bitz (who he'll be replacing). Plus who pays a 1st for a 4th liner? Our 3rd line right now clearly isn't a checking line and Moen is a 4th liner/3rd line checking winger.

I want whatever **** your smoking in bulk! Guys like Moore go for a second year after year. A character guy/leader like Moen would easily fetch that + a B prospect...he brings more then just grit to a team. If you want to get a 4th for a player we'll give you Kaberle lol. But Moen ain't going anywhere book it *****es!
