The beef is that he retweeted a false report that Nash was traded without any indication that he thought the report was false. Then, when called on it, he claimed it was all in jest.

Guessing that Columbus wouldn’t back off their demands for top Rangers defenseman (Michael Del Zotto/Ryan McDonagh) and/or Chris Kreider in the deal for Nash.

I doubt that dealing Brandon Dubinsky or the No. 1 draft pick would have been an issue.

But it sounds as if Glen Sather is not going to bend on whatever he was offering, and that the Rangers are now out of the running for Nash.

I still imagine Sather might make some relatively minor deals to fortify his team for a playoff run, but wouldn’t be surprised at all if the day goes by without an NHL player coming or going.
http://rangers.lohudblogs.com/2012/0...gers+Report%29

Sather was flexible but he wasn't stupid.

The Rangers will add a NHL player or two.

Hey fellow rangers fans,
My first post but i have been listening to you guys for years, GREAT FANS WE ARE
If Howson want s a kings ransom for Nash we HAVE to pass, I'm sorry I have waited to many years for this franchise to FINALLY get it and build from within.
I'm not saying we don't have the assets to aquire him but to dismantle what Slats and his team has done in the last 5 years and overpay,NO WAY, but dam it would be sick to see Nash in a red , white and blue with him flanking richards.

Its not that we don't like or trust him, however Steve got caught with his pants down making a dumb RT on something most of us believe Steve thought was legitimate.

Penguins are going to roll over this team in a best of 7 series when they get Crosby back.
Crosby will come back and then get hurt 4 games later and be gone. Crosby is at the point where he's playing his last few games when he comes back. That many bad concussions ends your career very fast. You come back, take an ordinary hit and you get concussed. Happens all the time. Crosby is Lindros. Unfortunately, he got the bug far earlier in his career than Lindros did.

Let's just bring up Avery and Zuca and we set for the playoffs.

You can't be serious? Crosbys career is over? Things have hit an all time low here.

Howson won't budge on the MDZ/McD/Stepan front. This guy is going to have a wakeup call in the offseason....if he's still there.
By him standing firm he really is going to handicap this organization for a long long time. I feel bad for CBJ fans ... seriously.

His career's closer to being over than anything else.

When you get that many concussions, you are going to get another big one. Then you are out for a long time, come back and get another one. It happened with Lindros's brother too. I knew a couple guys a long time ago who were division 1 caliber football players. one had 5 concussions throughout high school the other had 2. They didn't even last a year in college football because they go into it and get concussions. It's not low pointing out that concussions are career enders. Especially the rate and type Crosby is getting.

While we're on the topic, it annoys me every time Zipay insists on referring to "first round draft picks" as "No. 1 draft picks."

For example, he referred to JT Miller as "last June's No. 1 draft pick" which to someone who doesn't know better, sounds like JT Miller was taken where Ryan Nugent-Hopkins was. Just very annoying and Zipay does this constantly. Is it hard to write "first rounder?"

Yea, he really handicapped his team by not caving into Glen Sather's offer...

I may be wrong...but i think avery needed to be on the roster by the trade deadline to play in the playoffs...so i don't think he'll be back up...

please correct me if i'm wrong, but i think that is correct...zuke's has a 2 way contract so he can be called up

Let's be realistic. The odds have to be pretty good that he's not going to stay healthy for very long, assuming he comes back at all. And if he gets yet another concussion (which is obviously quite likely considering his history) what then? How many is too many? I hate Crosby, but it's certainly a shame that he is possibly looking at a very shortened career.

If you want to discuss the extent of Crosby's injury, do it in the Around the NHL thread. Totally irrelevant here.

When 3pm comes tomorrow and Nash is not on the Rangers, I will believe we are out.

Until then, all I see is posturing on both sides.

We'll see.
