The first one was deflected twice and was going well wide before Petry put it in. The 2nd was a nice move and goal by Whitney.
The 2nd goal absolutely should have been stopped. Whitney made a nice move to get towards the goal but he fired a muffin right into Dubnyk's pad and it somehow squeezed through, horrible goal to give up. Also, he gave up the other goal which was another softy but got saved by the whistle.
Dubnyk is the definition of being really bad when he's bad but also bieng really good when he's good. Unfortunately there is more bad than good with him this season.
why was smith boo'd i missed like 10mins of first cause thought game was on tonight stupid afternoon games.
bright spot hopkins got point and we cant win em all need to stay 29th for a good pick
He played the puck behind his net early in the third and dumped it down the ice i think. Subsequently, he moved towards his net, but by then, Eager was trying to head back the ice and squeezed between Smith and his net. Smith dove as if though he was shot in the chest even though eager barely touched him. Eager got an interference penalty.

Eager grazed him when leaving the Phoenix zone and Smith responded with a blatant belly flop. Eager was called for goaltender interference. Once the crowd saw what Smith did on the big screen they proceeded to let him have it for the rest of the game.
- I don't know what happened, but this team over the course of the season has gotten better at cycling the puck. Make no mistake, today we controlled the board in a big way against a team who plays with strong fundamentals, which includes puck protection and board play. Really impressed with this improvement as the season progresses.
- We really could use an offensive D-man from the backend. Whitney looks to be quicksand and isn't really that guy anymore. Gilbert has taken more of a defensive role. A guy like Vish or Karlsson or Green could've been the difference for us tonight.
- It's absolutely amazing to think we have 3 all word offensive talents on this team in RNH, Eberle and Hall. Amazing.
- Smid, Petry and Gilbert all represent good development of his team aside from the forwards. I have to give Steve Smith some props. His work with defensemen is paying off. The aforementioned 3, and Peckham have really helped. Those 3 look good defensively. Smid looks like a new player. Good along the cycle, smart hitting, blocking shots and pinching in smart situation (take note Whitney).
- Bummed with Dubnyk's performance, but this is part of a young goalie's development. It's completely random and some goalies find their game in their late 20's. It is what it is.
Regardless, onwards and upwards.
I don't know if Dubnyk is actually even developing. His game, like his old WHL days, mainly depended on using his size and average positioning to stop shots. Also, he always has difficulty "knowing" where the puck is...one of those types of goalies that feel where the puck is rather than actually know its location
I hate to say it because it's been said so often the past few years, but that's a loss the Oilers can build on. The effort was there, they just need to learn how to play against teams like that. It's dissappointing to lose, but I take solace in that they didn't quit. (and that they dogs put some space between them and the Flames...)
That being said, what a frustrating game. And I'm with Moonlapse Vertigo. I hate Whitney and I hate Doan.
Call it irrational... whatever. There's just something about both of them that I find repugnant.
Play MPS with Gagner/Eberle or Hall/Hemsky or RNH .... ffs, Renney.
Smyth can play with Horcoff.
Agreed. Eberle looked average today but that's because he had to play with Smyth. We need some size down the middle and hopefully Grigorenko can give us that.
I hope we draft 2nd or 3rd so we can pick up Grig or Murray.
