Weren't Leafs fans proclaiming that the rebuild was over and other things such as "that how you rebuild. You don't need high picks to do it" and such?

How about a deal around Kulemin for Bernier.. This way the leafs can still be competitive and the kings add some young depth up front?

I don't recall ever proclaiming that.

And this certainly doesn't mean you need high picks to rebuild.

No, we weren't. Not even a marginal amount of our fanbase believes that this team was complete and now a contender. Stop conjuring nonsense.

People on this board sure like to make things up about Leaf fans to make us look bad.

I believe it was more Burke that said how you can rebuild other ways.

1. Cut the fat (Lombardi, Armstrong, Komisarek, Connolly) for WHATEVER.

2. Trade the underperforming assets (Schenn, Grabovski, Gustavsson) for young Goalie, NHL ready prospects and picks.

3. FIRE WILSON.

4. Play the KIDS. (Mueller, Kadri, Frattin, Colborne)

5. Make the playoffs...

Highly doubtful we will see Schenn or anyone that can be part of the core but I'd expect Grabo and Mac to move. We need to give Kadri and Colborne playing time and get some more assets for those two would be pretty good.

God have mercy on anyone's soul that wants Lombardi/Connolly/Armstrong/Komisarek but if you do, you can have em'.

They are so close to make playoffs, they have to move assets to improve the team.

I see them buyers and sellers, but moves need to be made because they have to right the ship before it is too late !

Frankly I am extremely relieved to see that Burke is at least contemplating selling.

1) this team is NOT ready for a playoff run, if we can get assets for those that are not performing.. great.

2) This is a very deep draft, if we can get a couple extra first round picks it will pay off.

3) we have plenty of nhl ready players that could play right now. Kadri, Colborne, Frattin, Aulie, Mueller, etc. Sell off the dead weight and put them into the show. Moves can be made at the offseason if they do not perform.

I think the best move (as already mentioned) is to trade the underperformers for picks or young players.

Making the playoffs and getting embarrassed should not be the goal. They should continue building on their young core, draft well, and sign good free agents (AKA not Komisarek or Connolly).

There are some good pieces on the Leafs. Patience.

I disagree with this.

The Marlies are posed to make a big run in the playoffs, let them get the experience there, it'll be great for them and for their confidence.

We never in as good as a position after the all-star break than we were this year and we didn't play as well in the first two months of the season in years past, and this is probably our best roster since the lockout, definitely our best without Sundin. I'm not wrong. I'm referring to where we were at the beginning of February. We shouldn't be struggling to keep up with 8th at the moment.

This was the wrong time to start losing so what do we do? I say sell but maybe get a player that we need that will be with this team for a while like dustin brown the guy is a beaut, power foward, leadership gritty. Get rid of the players that we can picks for and have guys like frattin colborne play and maybe give Owuya a chance.

No reason why Burke can't buy (vet goaltender) and sell. We'll need a vet goaltender next season.
