We are like 4 points out of the bottom 5. Good work Tank commander Wilson.

Do you people listen to yourselves?

Look at the team we had when Burke got here the team was really old with no true top liners, no number one defenseman, no prospects, a bunch of bad contracts and barely any players with value. This was seen as ridiculously bleak situation.

Fast forward to now, our prospect pool is pretty much filled with surefire NHLers and some potential stars. We have two top line studs, a #1dman and new captain, young studs like Gardiner, Franson, Colborne, a deep top 9 with 2 1B centres, all of our bad contracts expire soon and we have one of the youngest teams in the league.

Please tell me what you people would have done differently that was possible?

Burke took over this roster:

Nik Antropov, F; Jason Blake, Jeff Finger, D; Jonas Frogren, D; Mikhail Grabovski, F; Niklas Hagman, F; Ryan Hollweg, F; Curtis Joseph, G; Tomas Kaberle, D; Pavel Kubina, D; Nikolai Kulemin, F; Jamal Mayers, F; John Mitchell, F; Dominic Moore, F; Alexei Ponikarovsky, F; Luke Schenn, D; Matt Stajan, F; Lee Stempniak, F; Anton Stralman, D; Jiri Tlusty, F; Vesa Toskala, G; Mike Van Ryn, D; Ian White, D.

Everyone here would be complaining in a year if he traded our picks for rentals now. What's the point of wasting assets to get murdered as an 8 seed, we want to see contention, it may take a while but we this city has never allowed a full rebuild to happen, why should we quit half way through?

No. This team hasn't been the same for some time. It goes beyond play in net. They aren't playing fast anymore. There is a good, young core to build around. I think they are on the right track, but there is still some fat to be trimmed. Now's the time to do it.

I believe he said he wants to build from the "net out".

I honestly don't think our defensemen are that bad. I think its much better if we play in a defensive system and we can actually find a goalie that can stop a puck. Most of our forwards are brutal defensively too.

See... you failed to mention the all-important thing...

When Burke arrived, the team was winning more games than under his tenure.

You failed, and very miserably at that, to see the point of a very good post. Burke has done wonders for this team. But made some bad mistakes.

Like Wilson, for example.

That's all well and good but the results aren't there, there's literally been NO improvement since Burke took over

The proof is in the pudding and this team is as incapable of making the playoffs four years in as it was when they started.

if you don't think the organizations overall "health" is infinitely better now than 4 years ago, I don't know what to tell you. We'd all love to be contenders right now, but I'd rather sell now, sacrifice short term to be better long term. I believe there is a good basis of a contending team here, but it's not completed, yet.

Tanking would be best. Obviously this team isn't cut out for the playoffs and if Burke is able to sink the ship and sell off players for draft picks, especially 1st rounders it'd be for the best.

This is a club that didn't have a lot to begin with when Burke took over. Now the Leafs have players they could move to start a proper rebuild.

That or fire the coach if you believe this is seriously a team that can make the playoffs.

Burke needs to decide tonight whether to be buyers or sellers.

Buying: go get Bishop from St. Louis or Nabakov/Montoya from Islanders. Hell even take a chance at Harding from Minnesota if you believe he can stay healthy.

Selling: adios Grabbo, Armstrong, MacArthur, Kulemin.

Offseason Lombardi and Connolly will be more valuable assets as theyre on expiring deals. Get rid of Komisarek any way you can (no we don't want him on the Isles lol)

Well it's a good thing that Burke wasn't able to buy last month when he wanted to. How embarrassing would that have been??

I don't know much about the Leafs' current prospects, but I remember a few years back when Toronto fans were pimping their pool of guys when the names were Tlusty, Pogge, adn Stralman. It's pretty easy to say the team has good prospects, but its anyone's guess whether they will pan out
