If Buffalo wants a 1st for Gaustad, I don't even want to imagine what they want for Roy.

Schultz although improved can't do what Hamr can otherwise he would have been playing much more. Although Orlov has evolved he's still a rookie. Erskine is Erskine. It isn't great on the left without Alzner.
If Alzner gets injured we're completely, utterly ****ed Hamrlik or not.

We'd be fine with a 2013 3rd the way things are going. Preferably it becomes a 2nd if they make the WCFs or something.

I remember liking "Cola" years ago when he was a prospect then he got seriously hurt I think and dropped off. Would be funny if he finally did make it to DC.

Put me in the camp of people who would be fine if all we did was sell off a few of our veteran assets and maybe add one or two small parts. This team's struggles this season are not the sort of thing cured by one or two semi-significant acquisitions. We're either going to get healthy, find some mojo, and go into the playoffs hot, or we're not. The players already in our locker room will determine which way we go. Derek Roy is not going to have really any impact on that. I'd rather keep the picks that will let us replenish our farm system which has become pretty shallow in the last couple years due to so many promotions.

Fish and George on the way to werk me lord

Get down there and sell sell. I don't think George can twiddle his thumbs texting Sarge repeatedly this morning that he is not getting traded. I look for early action from the caps.

Please, no moving futures for rentals--only for players with term.

And sell Wideman, Knuble, and Hamrlik/Schultz.

I'll be happy if those to things happen.

Does the consensus want to keep Vokoun? I do think its a bit early to give up on him since we got him with an eye for the playoffs, but I see a lot of inconsistency, and he seems to be wrongly accusing others on his 5 hole fails. A possible bad apple.

I was excited to see Holtby in a full time role, ok for one day last summer. How has Holtby's play of late been.

Neuvirths solid 2 games has upped the odds a tad that Vokoun gets moved IMO

trade voukon. The success of this team is on 8 19 28 and 52. I doubt the difference between nuevy and voukon will be a factor in how far we go this year.

Plekanec for Laich anyone? Laich and Eakin or smth

What do you think?

PS: I think we better keep Vokoun and Ward and see from their playoffs performance.

Disagree. I think the goaltending will have a HUGE impact on how far we go. It's been one of the biggest factors in the team's success this season already.

Obviously you do the Plekanec deal. Doubt Montreal would, though. Laich doesn't speak French.

Goaltending has a huge impact every single game, the single most important player on the ice. Keeping Vokoun gives us 3 options in goal - But I think Holtby can pinch hit well this year like he did last year. But if we get offered a 1st from a playoff fringe team George predicts to tank (in part from adding Five-Oh), I would like him to consider it.

Vokoun is 19th in Save % at 917, GAA 20th at 2.52 is even behind Theo

It's a risk but Vokoun just hasn't impressed me. Neuvirth is trending.

Sarcasm meter going off - so consensus is Neuvy and Holtby weren't ready to be our tenders this year as George had planned. I thought they were ready personally but thanks for the input. Neuvy demoted this year I think had a hand in his inconsistencies. Same with Holtby, confidence shot from the start when the GM brings in a G ahead of them.

So there is no deal out there that could lure TVo from George. Ok. Let's roll with him then, not Neuvirth, from here on out.

I've never liked this Holtby storyline. It was less than 48 hours that he was #2 in the organization. People talk about this like he went the entire summer thinking he'd be #2 without any competition and on the NHL roster. Holtby has plenty of development left to go; had another game this weekend with some rough patches. He's 22yo and playing his 3rd pro season.

addn: Do I think the mgmt team was willing to go into the season with a Neuvirth/Holtby tandem if nothing else presented itself during the off-season, yes, but in the short-time he was number 2, it still seemed plausible they'd sign someone.

i think they were both ready for this season, but vokoun was supposed to raise the team to another level. much as bryzgalov was to make the flyers unbeatable.

i would be fine with trading vokoun and going with neuvirth and holtby. that said, i think vokoun has destroyed his trade value and the asset(s) he might return may have fallen to the throwaway level.
