I think that Moose deserves another start after his shutout. Marty is going to start vs the Rags no matter what anyway. So it should've been Moose in the net vs the Isles.

We saw what happened when Marty finally started playing consistently and got a good feel going..........he's played very strong for us during this stretch of starts (since Jan 31st/AS Break, 8-4-1, 2.15 GAA) - the winning 8 of 9 which was our best run of the season thus far and Marty was in net during nearly every game, did we forget this just because we hit a little bump and lost 4 in a row, games which Marty played well and the team did not?
This is not taking anything away from Moose's performance because he was solid and made key saves last night early on, however it was 1 friggen start and none the less against a weak/struggling team
Marty is our starter, Moose is the backup and we need Moose to come in and play well when Marty needs a rest - Moose has done just that, Pete made the correct call for tomorrow
I just can't see Marty getting up for an Isles games the way he does the Rangers. I know he is a pro but it's still a real situation. I would've went with Moose but hopefully Marty can step up and play well.
He's near 40. He shouldn't be starting this many games unless the backup is that incompetent(which he's not) or injured(which he's not). Bunch of games coming up and it's all hands on deck.
So we're complaining because the backup isn't starting two games in a row now?
Just because everyone's in a hurry to put Marty out to pasture, doesn't mean the rules have changed. Moose'll play on the 10th or 11th and the 20th, and probably at least another game down the stretch besides the back-to-backs if we're locked into a playoff spot (unless we go crazy trying to chase first-round home ice which I wouldn't do but the Devils do have a habit of going for the highest seed possible).
Like someone else said, Marty only really picked it up when he was able to get back to a heavy workload. That doesn't mean overdo it, of course. But it's not like there's a lot of travel involved this month anyway.
No one wants Marty out but when your back up comes in and posts a shutout after not playing for two weeks, it wouldn't be the worst thing to give him another game and let Marty focus on a big game against the Rangers. If Moose can play well after being off that long then Marty should be fine with a few days off.
Moose should get 3 out of the next 10 games. Next Saturday's Isles game, then the midweek game againt Colorado, and the Ottawa game on the back of the the back to back (Rags game is the one before that). That allows Marty to get into a groove and gives Hedberg some solid starts too.
I'm on the Moose should play tomorrow, club.... and should have started sometime during that 4 game losing streak.
Not that Marty lost it, or anything, just Moose is coming from a stellar performance, the team played well, why not him roll with it a bit, particularly with a team far down in the standings?
If he had somehow been a negative factor in a game barely won, obviously go back to MB.
Its a good for the group to see both goalies back there, so the habits remain fresh.
.... Oh well... Pete will be Pete... and he probably doesn't want to have a Moose streak and let Marty run cold....

I want Moose to start at least once a week. Once a week, and a back to back game. Marty has been great, not as great during the losing streak, but he did keep us in the Boston game, and got a point for us. That 1st period was worse than the Calgary 1st period, or any period in the Colorado game. The Goaltending[Marty] was just remarkably better.
Hopefully Moose's shutout motivates Marty.
Moose will probably start the last game in our mini series with the Isles next Saturday on the Island, and Marty the next night against Philly.
That sucks cause Jyz always dominates us, and makes himself look like a good acquisition for the Flyers. He always dominates when Marty is there, and Moose won against Philly both times he's played them this year.
Usually? League minimum with some signing bonuses. Think Kinkaid, Fayne or Taormina. Unless it's someone like Gilroy they don't usually come with much of a price tag precisely because they're undrafted free agents.
It's all about the demand for them. I'm hoping we pick up another random college FA who we can use as an asset, like Sova.

They do wonders for our team toughness too. I'm no longer worried about being able to match the physicality of some of the bigger teams in the conference, because we have some big guys of our own.
