This is awesome, Manked.

If Bishop is brought in, I hope Lehner is able to get a couple of games in regardless. It's a bit of a slap in the face to bring him up and then turn around and ship him back to Bingo without even a game.

I think its more of a slap in the face to Auld more then Lehner.

Ben Bishop? I guess they don't have faith in Lehner...

More like they don't have faith in Auld.

That's true, I hadn't even considered that. I hope Auld's confidence isn't rattled by this three-ring goalie circus we have going on. He's a vet, though, hopefully he's able to just focus on his game and not worry about whether the management has faith in him.

Hopefully the price isn't bad, a 3rd seems more than fair.

Has nothing to do with Lehner, he has the next 10-15 years to get to the NHL. Auld is barely an NHL goaltender right now and Bishop very well could be a solid NHL goaltender right now.

You add depth to the organization... no need to draft a goalie after this either even though if they feel they have a player they like in the up coming draft that is a goaltender, then you draft him.

Love the move for a lot of reason, the main one because it makes total sense.

They drafted Bishop with a 3rd and put 4, 5 years of development into him. He's worth a lot more than a 3rd. Probably looking at Mark Stone kind of deal. That kind of value anyways.

Galiardi would also be a nice, relatively cheap addition that looks like he could use a change-up.
Hasek was the odd man out in Chicago's net in 1992. Stuck behind Ed Belfour and Jimmy Waite (haha, was that ever a bad choice given the benefit of hindsight)

Now, before I get dumped on, I'm not comparing Bishop to Hasek here in terms of talent IN ANY WAY WHATSOEVER. Just the similarities of their situations.

Could they wave Auld if this deal goes through?

We should trade Spezza now that his value is high.

The only way Stone goes is if Ottawa gets more back.

i think a lot will have to do on how lehner does tonight. If he looks good then Sens have a tough decision

most logical choice is send lehner back down and keep Auld and Bishop here till Andy is back

Maybe they do, I have no idea. St.Louis won't just let Bishop go though.

A 3rd round pick for a goalie from all accounts does not seem happy might be the best they can hope for.

Yeah, but after that you'd think Auld would be gone...If they do get Bishop.

I'm not sold on the guy yet though. He's a good goalie but only has 13 NHL games under his belt averaging a lower than .900 save%.

Remember Bishop has to play 17 games or he is a Ufa they are losing him one way or another

That's true too but you look at a team like Tampa who needs a goaltneder going into next year and they have a ton of picks... might be some competition.

This is the one thing that's been bugging me, because I haven't heard a straight answer:

Does bishop actually have to PLAY in 17 games for the extra year of RFA to kick in, or just DRESS for 17 games (as in: receive an NHL paycheque for 17 games vs an AHL paycheque)?

well Andy Strickland is saying that Ottawa wants to talk with Bishop first so therefore to me it tells me he has to PLAY 17 games
