I really don't think this trade lowered our chances to clinch a po-spot.
From what I read McGinn should be able to replace winnik and Galiardi has been a non-factor most times anyways.
And for the future this could work out great.
Locking threads when new threads aren't even showing up doesn't make a lot of sense.
McGinn for Galiardi appears to be a wash. Galiardi probably needed a change of scenery. I love the guy, but he hasn't been the same or even consistent these last two years. McGinn has higher offensive upside. This team has been winning without Gali.
Winnik, as good as he is on the PK, isn't overly physical and cannot score. What's the max you give a guy like that in terms of contracts?
I don't know anything about Connolly, but he's producing pretty damn well in the AHL. Maybe Sharks fans could tell us more about him.
This team has no direction at all.
We give up our 1st yet dont upgrade our top 6 in the offseason.
We want to make the playoffs, yet we sell off two key contributors for 1 and 2 prospects. At the same time we decide to keep Jones who probably right now has the highest value he ever has and probably ever will all the while probably not intending to resign him.
Beyond just the roster players lost, I think it hurts team chemistry. It seemed like both Winnik and Galiardi were well liked members of the team, not sure it was worth potentially hurting the team's mojo for such a random and mediocre move.
Well we don't know if it will hurt team chemistry or not. I guess we'll find out.
On paper it makes the team better. McGinn is also more physical than Winnik.
Connolly sounds like a real deal player, top 3 scorer for Worcester in his first year. NCAA championship winner, Hobey Backer Finalist, past Assistant Captain... Would love to hear from the Sharks some better info on this guy. Think he's a winger too not a center but not certain.
