MLT 1st Round Pick?

if say Mikhail Grigorenko isn't available when we go? who is the next best thing?

how would you feel if montreal pick up Ryan Murray or Alex Galchenyuk?

If montreal can't draft a #1 center. Plekanec, 2013 1st, weber, diaz, (along with other picks in 2012 and on), etc... are all available. Choose BPA and see what can be done later.

Forsberg..? Although even though it's a different guy.. It would still be difficult to see that name on a Habs jersey. But hey you could kind of get us back for having to watch us with Roy's name on our jersey.

If I was Mtl, I would trade this year 1st draft pick to Columbus and another player for Columbus 2013 1st pick and try to get Nathan MacKinnon, who is compared to Sydney Crosby!...And he is Canadian and not Russian!

He's good but he's not comparable to Crosby except for where they grew up and have played.

Ya I live in Hali and watched both play at this age. He's not even that close, no one I have ever watched is. Nathan is extremely talented for his age but he just isn't as good. Sid had like 150 points his rookie year in the Q.

I'd like to see Habs get another Top 10 pick and select either Forsberg and Galchenyuk or Forsberg and Faksa? Trade AK for late first then trade up on draft day. Habs haven't made any noise at draft since 1984. When Savard bought out Svoboda and traded up to draft Corson. Along with drafting a young goalie by name of Roy

If you were Montreal you would. If you were Columbus you would not.

If Yakupov and Grigorenko are both gone then The habs should take Murray.

I know they need a 1C but 3-4 years from now they could be looking at a stud defense with a stud goalie.

Gorges - Subban
Tinordi - Murray
Bealieu - Emelin

No thanks. We REALLY need help on offense, I say we take Galchenyuk if Grigorenko isn't available.

This thread is some 20 games and a draft lottery too early. A lot of things can happen between now and the draft and Montreal could realistically draft anywhere from #1 to #12.

As for who they should pick, you always go with the best player available. Most players drafted are anywhere between 2 and 7 years away from making a real impact on an NHL roster, if you draft based on need chances are that whatever need it was you had will have already been filled through other means by the time the player you picked becomes NHL ready.

Grigorenko sucks, i would not draft him in the top 5. Yes he has skill but he is like Kabanov when it comes to having a bad attitude. He is also very inconsistent, he will play one good game where he will score 2 goal then he will go 2 games sttaight with nothing not even an assist. I think you guys will be very upset if your team drafts him. Just my opinion on it.

The team has to take the BPA regardless of position. It is very possible that if Montreal drafts #5 overall Yakupov, Grigorenko, Murray and Galchenyuk will all be gone. So to focus on a position becomes dangerous, especially if that player doesn't make the team for a year or two.

Personally I'd try and acquire another 1st'12, be it by trading Pleks + ? Or something similiar.

Draft 6'4 207 Dman Griffin Reinhart with our 1st and then with the second 1st draft a big C in Faksa, Gaunce or Grigersson(spelling?)..

Is Grigorenko even good enough to become a clear #1 center in terms of offensive production?

For that to happen, Columbus would need to finish last next year AND win the lottery. Way too much uncertainty there (if Columbus gets a real goalie there's no way in hell they finish 30th).
