Nope haha.

What about a deal around Konopka, Carkner and a pic for Mason Raymond? Thoughts?

Would Puemple, Lehner, Dacosta and a pic get it done for Nash?

Buffalo would probably want more then that for Stafford.

Maybe a 3 way deal with van

to van
Carkner and Konopka

to ott
Stafford/Roy

to buffalo
Butler, 2nd van, 3rd ottawa

Be fair people, Carkner and Konopka wouldn't get you a ticket to a Canucks game.

Auld, Konopka and Carkner are assets (or liabilities ) the Senators own that have virtually zero present value.

What's this Matt Gilroy for Brian Lee ?

Team1200 says a done deal?

Weird move? Is it really an upgrade?

So they gave Brian Lee away for a soon to be ufa who was signed only last summer by Tampa as a ufa. Apparently he was a much sought after college player 3-4 years ago but Todd White said he and Matt were in the dog house together with the Rangers when they gave up on him. He's supposed to be a puck moving offensive D but he only has 2 goals. Not sure what this really brings to a team fighting for a playoff spot when Lee was playing pretty well and this guy's defensive play is at best borderline. They must hope he'll be a good puck mover but if he doesn't pan out giving up a rfa for ufa is not good asset management. Hope he's not another Campoli who also was supposed to be a good skating puck mover but was a weak D.

Matt Gilroy is a 27 yr old puck moving defencemen who is much more offensive than Lee. Yes, Gilroy is a UFA at the end of the season but I think he will be re-signed at a very affordable price. He is a right hand shot & with Gonchar in his last season next yr Gilroy would be in the perfect position to replace him. Three yrs ago there were a number of teams that tried to sign Gilroy out of school. He has good size at 6'1", 200 lbs, he has 3 yrs of NHL experience & he can add more offence to our team which is never a bad thing. I think it`s an excellent move for the future of the team.

I look forward to seeing Brian Lee do well on another hockey team, and thats three straight so called "hockey deals" where Bryan Murray overpaid. Its not bad on one, but altogether? This last deal was just a joke. Gilroy?

Seems like a case where you're just being negative to be negative. If you honestly think losing Lee will hurt the team in any significant way, you must not watch the Sens regularly. This is the same Brian Lee that cleared waivers late last year...noone was interested in picking up his prorated ELC.

Would have been interesting to know id we were in on the Hodgeson deal at all (Konopka or Carkner +). Buffalo did really well with that deal for Kassian.

Lee trade appears even to me. Gilroy is quite a bit better offensively than Lee. Lee looks to be the steadier player, but overall they appear about even. Murray clearly stated that Lee didn't bring enough offense to fit the team he and McLean are looking to build.

Murray wants puck moving dmen that can contribute offensively. Lee was never much of a contributor offensively and I doubt he'll ever get much better in that regard so Murray made the move.

I doubt it would be a one for one, that's all. But say a Carkner and Butler might have returned Hodgeson (and maybe a late pick/prospect), based on the Kassian one for one. It was a 1st (10) for a 1st (13) I realise, but it was out of the blue to me. Hodgeson is getting Calder mention. Doubt he gets it but he's in the conversation.

It would have taken at least Zibby to get Hodgson I believe, no way do old spare parts get it done.

Then we went into the 7 game losing streak and we were maybe going to be "sellers"... We bounce back from that and he decides to sit on his hands....

Just like the Gilroy deal, he admitted there hadnt been any discussion about it and it just kind of happened... So 5 minutes before the deal he was fine with our D and then Yzerman is on the phone and all of a sudden a deal is done?

He has always been a guy who flip-flops around and I guess these last few weeks have been no different

I'm shocked he didn't find out Konopka's opinion on D-Day to fill up a paragraph or 2.

We're not paid by a big time news paper. Big difference.
