If Grossman couldn't get Saad, Souray won't be enough either.
Yeah, that obviously won't be enough. But lets see what happens. Right now it feels like nothing will happen, it seems there are no great offers so far for any of our players.
Anybody feel that they might keep Ott for the sole reason of keeping the causal fan coming to games. I hope not but I wouldn't be surprised. There are a ton of people that stand by Ott, of course they let two large fan favs go a couple years ago so I'd hope they'd do the same with Ott if the price is right.
What casual fan has been coming to the game? Attendance is at an all time low. If they're keeping Ott just to appease to the fans that come once a year, then we're in a lot deeper trouble than I thought.
You said it yourself, 'if the price is right'. I'd rather keep him than getting only a bag of pucks for him. I won't be mad at Joe if Ott is still here after the deadline, because then I know the offered return was probably not up to our expectations.
I agree that NOW would be the best time to move him, but not for a poor return, simple as that.
If the demand for Ott is as high as they make it out to be I'm sure he'll be traded.
On Saad, I have a feeling Chicago would want a lot for him. I don't think he's really in their plans considering their strong top 6 so they'll use him as trade bait to get someone else, and I think they would be looking for a stronger defensemen than Robidas or Souray. Daley is the only one and he's not going anywhere. I'm a little wary of Saad because he's a Dustin Penner type player. Penner used to be great but look how fast he fell.

There had to have something else besides the injury. You don't fall a full round (some had him going top 10) just because you got hurt. The lack of drive/laziness is what I thought too.
That's really not a playing style problem, that's a mental problem. Saad definitely had those problems last year and it's sort of recovered since he's been drafted by Chicago, but who knows if he'll keep it up, one setback could send him back to that.
When I mean by Penner is he's big, heavy, but he's not physical at all. It's absurd when you watch him, you see a Lucic sized player playing like he's Michael Cammaleri.
Threw this by Flyers fans. Figured I'd see what you guys think...
Ott+Glennie+Klingberg+2nd for JVR and whatever other contract they need to send to make the cap work.
I think if you're going after somebody to play with Benn and Louie you go all out.
Klingberg can be dealt because we've got a really good D prospect pool, and with Nemeth and Oleksiak coming to Texas next season (Think one of them will actually make the Dallas team) Klingberg really falls down the chart.
I don't see Klingberg ever becoming anything more than a MAB type player. But if he goes to Philly, no way they get a 2nd, too. I'd be fine with a 3rd, though. Whichever one is higher.
That's a deal I'd be pretty weary about. If Joe honestly thinks JvR can become more consistent and be a PPG winger with Benn, he should do that. But if there's even a hint of doubt, don't.
