We may be able to put together a package like our 1st, Bobrovsky and the rights to Carle depending on who holds the pick were after.
The only team I could see Bob go to is Edmonton (that is in the bottom 10 in the league). They are the only team without a true #1 and Bob can definitely fight for the position there. Maybe Tampa as well.
Honestly, I think we should give him a shot if we he can take a pretty big discount.
I love Grossman and Kubina. Again, ANYONE will look bad from time to time in this system, but Grossman is playing a big mans game and Kubina is adding a lot to the 2nd PP unit with that Cannon right handed shot. I hope they resign both. Hopefully cap friendly and short term
I believe he is a #1 d-man, not sure if he is a franchise defenseman. I believe there is a difference.
A franchise d-man is Chara, Pronger, Lidstrom, Weber, and thats about it. Maybe I missed one, but that's basically it. They have proven to be the best of the best, the upper echelon, the guys who can play 30 minutes and you only have to worry about the other 30.
Suter is a step below but could prove himself to be in that level. He will play shutdown hockey and play in all the important spots of the game. He can carry his partner on given nights and anchor your D. He is not the best of the best, but he is right below.
And for those who are saying there too many top 10 d-men:
Pronger (when healthy)
Chara
Weber
Lidstrom
Letang
Karllson
Keith
Suter
Pietrangelo
Timonen
Yandle (#11, but top 10 w/ Pronger out)

That's is my top 10, so yea, I have him top 10.
No Doughty? And to think, two years ago he was going to win the Norris for the next 10 years and was this generations Bobby Orr. Now he is forgotton in top ten lists.

Forgotten? Not at all, just doesn't deserve it. His play has not been top 10 this year.
If Suter/Weber is a pipe-dream, does this line up really sound that bad?

I mean, if need be, we can spend that rest on something bigger up front or on D if Suter/Weber is out the question.
I do still think Timonen, Mez, Kubina and MAB are PP d-men quality.
Coburn is not worth 2 million more than Kubina from what I've seen
I'm really jealous of the predators. They seem to know what they are doing.
Philly just really needs to stay the course with this team. Don't "go for it" and trade away some of these young guys. Let them develop, draft some defensemen and let the kids grow together. In 2 or 3 years this team could be dominant.

Totally agree...sometimes the best move(s) you make is the move(s) you don't make...

Well they tried to let them grow together but apparently as Richards noted there were "little groups" in the locker room and Snider also said he didn't think they were "growing" as a team so they pushed the reset button and now you have this which is much better...

“Yeah, at the end of the day, I’m happy to still be a Flyer,” he said. “I love all the guys we have on the team. We have a great group of guys, not only on the ice, but off the ice, as well. I’m really excited about what we can do together.
“There’s a lot of potential for us to do great things in the postseason. I’m happy to still be here. This is the only place I’ve ever known.”

Trading for Pronger really signalled that the growth stage was over for Richards and Carter. And it also left the cupboard barren with no chance to restock.
Now they can create a pipeline of players to supplement the growth.
