I'm thinking two ... a Pahlsson type grinder center and a AK/Stasny type top 6ish forward. The offer for Nash is probably enough to get Howson to bite, but, I'm not expecting the required waiving of the NMC.
I say go after Ott and Dorsett, play them with Tootoo as our third line. Talk about grit and getting under people's skin. We'd have the most hated line in hockey and while teams were focused on those three, the other three lines would be cleaning up.
I'm sort of kidding but sort of not.
If we're going to target anyone, make it a big fish, not something we already have a ton of.
I said it a while back and a bunch of you were like, no way is he even available, Dustin Brown is a guy we should target. Big, skilled forward with a ton of leadership skills. I think he needs a change of scenery and I think Nashville would be a perfect place for him.
They try hard to pick up two forwards. One will be Gaustad/Pahllson and the other will be AK46/Roy/possibly Stantsy if Poile gets excited. I think the most likely is AK. MTL probably holding firm on their price now but will come down a bit as the deadline nears.
Jeff Halpern from Washington for a 3rd round pick.
Jaroslav Spacek from Carolina for a 4th round pick or prospect.
I don't think Columbus is going to trade Rick Nash and believe that in the end they will only use Nashville's offer to try to leverage other teams into matching it without success. Therefore, I believe Poile will be extra active making smaller deals that he's been working on for a while.
