Haven't heard any rumblings for awhile in regards to expansion but I can imagine the league would want to sort out scheduling issues and playoff cut-off by giving the league an even number of teams. Bossier-Shreveport would be the ultimate hope for the league I would guess. I do kinda wonder how the proposed AA league the Northern Professional Hockey League will effect SPHL expansion if the new start-up league does indeed go into older markets like Richmond, Roanoke, and Huntington WV. Anyone hearing anything in regards to expansion?
Wrong Mississippi--Tim Kerr has stated he needs to see more ticketholders to keep hockey in Biloxi.
As for the NPHL, I was trying to be subtle in the other thread, but their demise seems to be directly related to the SPHL, if I'm reading the tea leaves correctly...
Both Mississippi teams are in trouble. The RiverKings attendance slide continued this season and they've fired members of the front office. The Surge are in trouble as well, but that's been happening since the Sea Wolves came back post-Katrina. Louisiana's attendance was no better than Mississippi's most of the season.
