lol @ all the people running to the nearest bridge.

There was really nothing out there to trade for. Sure, you would've liked to see the team improve. They made a big push for Nash and Howson said no, can't complain there. Most teams that you would consider contenders didn't do anything either, obviously the market just wasn't there this year. Too many teams think they're still in it.

Of all the teams, I like what NSH did today.

Agreed, Sting. I'm willing to be patient and see what happens in the playoffs, and then make moves accordingly at the draft and during the offseason.

Holy overreacting on here. Would anyone honestly want to give up a 1st for Goose? It wasn't a good buyers market this year.

I'm fine with them doing nothing, or just the minor trade. Anyone really want to trade two draft picks for Gaustad? Or trade for a guy with 24 points?

See what happens this year and then this summer take another crack at Nash, or maybe Ryan or see about Parise or Suter on July 1.

reading this thread you'd think the rangers were battling for 6th or 7th in the conference

horrible horrible horrible horrible horrible acquisition. wouldn't give up a bag of pucks for john scott let alone a 5th rounder. the guy most likely will not step on the ice for the rangers this season

I think Bickell / Scott dress against goon teams down the stretch either as a 6 D or F . I think possibly see Tim Erixon as 3rd pair D man as well in the PO potentially

Why wouldn't they be happy with the faceoff situation? Our players who have taken more than 25 faceoffs:

Richards: 52%
Boyle: 52%
Stepan: 45%
Dubinsky: 52%
Anisimov: 47%
Mitchell: 56%
Rupp: 58%

Can people stop with this crap about us being first in the east. Being first in the east doesn't mean you don't have any holes or have the best team or the best chance to win a cup. We're not good enough to win the cup with this current roster. Our bottom 2 lines give us nothing offensively and AA and Hagelin at this point are 3rd liners playing in the top 6. We've been doing it all year with smoke and mirrors. We'll get exposed in the playoffs.

For everyone complaining...

What trades that gone done would you be happy with?

Gaustad for a 1st rounder?
Kostistyn for what MTL received?

The market was overpriced this year. We pushed hard for Nash, CBJ decided not to trade

We had needs, yes. But the cost did not justify any trades. People hyping the heck out of 3rd liners who teams overpaid for.

What move did another team pull off that makes you scared now?

Rolston on the Bruins??

Maybe you just let Scott take all the beatings down the stretch and keep Rupp and Prust a little fresher for the postseason.

For those people asking if Scott is better than Bickell, the answer is no.

the big thing here is that nobody in the east really got any better. the only team who i think made an upgrade is vancouver, and winnipeg took a step backwards for this season.

For the first time during Glen Sather's tenure, there was actually a legitimate reason for him to make additions to his team at the deadline, and after years of doing it when he shouldn't have, he doesn't do it when he finally has a team worthy of it! Great stuff...yet, when you look at the other deals, you can't fault him. The price for rentals was obviously way too high. I'm glad we didn't give up a 1st for Gaustad, for example. Very happy we didn't make a horrible deal for Rick Nash.

This team needs a big addition, but you can't rush moves like that. There will be ample opportunities to do so at the draft and during next season.
I agree Sting. I would have been interested in Pahlsson or Kostitsyn considering they went cheap in a sellers market but other than that, there wasn't much out there. Didn't think the Scott for a 5th move was necessary but I'll wait until I see him play to judge it. I remember people killing Shelley for a late pick here a couple of years ago and he actually came and played pretty well down the stretch.

Gaustad fetched a 20-25 1st rounder in a deep draft????

No thanks.

I'm happy they didnt get Nash, and if that was the asking price for a 3rd/4th line tweener, then screw it.

Maybe Sauer is close to returning.......and Kreider will join after the NCAAs.....There are your needs addressed.
