We can afford to be patient with a guy like St.Croix. He's only 18 years old and is eligible for another year in Juniors. The Oil Kings are probably the best structured WHL team at this moment and are favorites to reach the Memorial Cup this year. Next year's team will be even stronger, look out for the Curtis Lazar kid, I was listening to the game on a radio stream and the announcers were going on about how he is the future of Oil King kockey. Back on topic of St.Croix, I'm not sure if he's eligible for the WJC, but if he is, he'll likely play for Canada. (although he'll have a tough time beating out MacKinnon and Monahan for top center spots).
In the 2014-15 season, I could see him starting in the ECHL and we'll see how it goes from there...
This is an incredibly random and absurd prediction lol...

I was thinking the same thing. If you think St. Croix is going to be in the ECHL in three years, then you just don't think he has NHL potential. The kid is going to spend one more year in juniors and then head to Hartford. That's when it gets interesting.
I don't think that's a good comparable at all. Raymond's strength is his speed. Miller does not have that gift.
I agree, really not a good comparison at all.

Huh? Why would he start in the ECHL? When does a decent prospect ever start in the ECHL for this team? Even Ryan Bourque is still playing in the AHL and MSC is 10x the player he is.
Im not sure if that comment was a joke of yours, if not, please explain.
1:48 check the sidebar. I think they were more or less comparing his grittyness and playmaking. Kid had 6 or 7 fights this season. 61pim. Not sure if he's as much of a dirty little ****** as Raymond though.

"Gettin' pucks and making plays...that's really the nature of his game."
Looking forward to seeing him in camp next season. Not saying he's ready to make the team just yet...but he's definitely going to give 110%. Should be fun to watch.

I thought he stood out well at last years Traverse City Tourny. Very interested to see what he does this time around.
Some sentiment that I've picked up in Plymouth Fan chatter is that they do not expect him to be with them next year, heading for the AHL.

Dan Girardi played some games in the ECHL... but doubt St.Croix plays more than 10-15 games down their...
He played well in Training Camp as well. He is very physically strong for his age, although I would have liked to see him ramp up his point totals this season.

The ECHL is a possibility, though he had the year wrong. It would be 2013-14, not 14-15. MSC definitely has the skill, but will he be strong enough to play at the AHL level? You would hope so, but you never know.
Zaborsky and Hillier both spent time in the ECHL. Hillier was a 3rd round pick and Zaborsky a 5th. Both put up good numbers in juniors, though not as good as MSC.
Not sure if anyone still follows the stats in the first post, but I will actually get around to updating them this weekend. I've been super busy with work and out of town for the last week and a half.

How dare you put other things like work before the Ranger prospects!

Nice thing about Miller as a prospect is that he plays the type of game where you can look at the player and say with good confidence, that this kid will be an NHL player without any doubt. The only question is in what capacity. I like his player profile. He was touted for having a very high compete level from shift to shift...

That's not entirely true. Even the best of players start their careers in the ECHL.
I think there will be a transition period for St. Croix and I do expect him to struggle in his rookie pro-season. It's expected though.
SOME good players start in the ECHL, though most do not. And if he's in the ECHL during his second professional season, then he's basically irrelevant.
The Mason Raymond comparison for Miller makes zero sense. I don't understand that comparison on any level. I see him as a second line, two-way LW or C with pretty solid scoring potential and slightly above average playmaking potential. Strong, solid on his skates, difficult to separate from the puck, and hard to deal with along the boards.
Raymond is a very fast, physically weak, weak-willed sniper.
Not all that impressive. There are some pretty good goalies on the list, but that's likely because teams have only so many spots for goalies in the AHL.
And the list doesn't indicate how many ECHL games they played. It could have been 1 and they'd still be on the list.

well Dan Girardi Francois Beauchemin Joe Corvo and Andrew Brunette are one of the better NHL players on that list along with Marty Biron . and Stu Bickel is on the list along with Ruslan Fedotenko and fan favorite Darren Langdon
and Mike Brodeur who shutout the Rangers which i still cant believe happened and yep an NHL first for him
i see alot of former Rangers: Holt, Hnilicka, Holmqvist, Blouin, Carins, Dusablon, Fedorov, Fraser, Mike Green, LaBarbera, Larose, Liffiton, Jason MacDonald, Nycholat, Oliwa, PA Parenteau , Pock, Potter, Pronger, Purinton, Rissmiller, Jason Scott, Siklenka, Peter Smrek, Brad Smyth, Tibbetts, Tripp, Tuzzolino, Layne Ulmer, Virtue, Whitfield, Matt Zaba, Harry York
any of those names bring up good memeories cause most of those players bring up bad ones
