Not even mad. Hope Stoll and Penner can contribute down the stretch.

Glad I went to work today, worst deadline ever.

I would have liked to get something for these two above.
Well we did get a big-bodied winger with good hands and has fresh legs for the playoff stretch, and maybe something to prove...all it cost was a 3rd or 4th rounder (that pick we didn't get for trading him).

Also, hard to believe that Visnovsky would be the longest lasting asset of that deal as at the time we were trying to get younger!

If we can get the same Penner that I saw on Saturday night, I'm glad we didn't move him.

I wonder what type of offers were given for Bernier. Heard that last week DL turned down a 1st and a prospect. Wonder if that price went up and if he still turned it down.

I think Greene is more durable and will be a better playoff performer than Vis.
If Penner plays than it will be good that we didn't trade him. I think Stoll will be a better player in the playoffs than Loki as well so I am ok with him as a rental.

I am not so sure. If the Rangers offer didn't include at least one of Kreider or Del Zotto (and these players were rumored to be off limits), then why make the deal if you are Howson?

Also, f Nash and his NTC. You want out? Work with the GM.

I hope Lombardi can do something this summer to recoup some draft picks, especially if we make the playoffs...

The Kings haven't gotten much out of Stoll or Penner this season, so if they give the Kings anything in the last 20 games, plus hopefully the playoffs, that's almost like two deadline additions. If Gagne were able to come back, that could be something too.

Seeing the prices, I'm glad we didn't make any moves. Would have been nice to throw in a 4th with Stoll to get NAS 1st though...

Wish we coulda got a 3rd line RW rental, someone like Knuble...if we were to make the playoffs and Gagne was back...we'd have this...

Gagne-Kopitar-Williams
Brown-Richards-Carter
Penner-Stoll-Knuble
Clifford-Fraser-Lewis/Richardson/Westgarth

Thats solid as hell, but I guess Im fine with Lewis/Richie/Nolan as that 3rd line RW.

Here is what the Rangers offered.

This seems like enough to me

Deadline ultimately went nowhere.
Columbus GM Scott Howson rejected what is believed a Rangers' final offer of Dubinsky, 21-year-old defenseman Tim Erixon, 2011 first-rounder J.T. Miller, 2010 second-rounder Christian Thomas and a first-round selection in this June's Entry Draft.
Ryan Smyth pretty much gave us 1 team and we still traded him.

Gaustad's value is >> Stoll.

There's no way we land Gaustad, adding 4th to Stoll.

explain. Both are great on faceoffs and can PK, Stoll can put up 50 pts, is speedier and younger, the only thing Gaustad has on him is size but Gaustad isn't exactly to count on on being physical.
When Lucic ran over Miller, Gaustad didn't stand up for his teammate at all.

If Buffalo would have offered Gausted for Stoll would you take it? I would.

I hope this isn't a new trend and the deadline is going to suck from now on. Maybe it's time for the NHL to consider setting the deadline to March 8-12th.

Gaustad is more of a shutdown center, which Stoll is not.

Gaustad will also drop his gloves and plays more physical.

Add to that Stoll is having his worst year in his career.

It's a lot of players but not alot of guarenteed roster players which you would need back for a Nash. Plust their 1st is basically a 2nd.

I agree

Now as a GM, Nash's value would drop to me going forward. I won't have him for the strecth run and for the playoffs.

You would think that the NHL would recognize what a ratings boost the deadline is and realize they need to do something to make it as big as it once was. to me the biggest issue is how close all of the teams are.
If they make every game worth three points (3 for a reg win, 2 for OT/SO win, 1 for OT/SO loss, 0 for reg loss) buyers and sellors would be better defined and there would be more moves. Also it would take away the impact the losser point has on the standings.

Why make it known that Rick Nash is the one who asked to be out of Columbus? Isn't that going to bring down the price?
