Prepare to be utterly disappointed...I think DW might be counting on Havlat, Murray, and Moore coming back from injuries to solve our problems.

Wouldn't be a terrible bet.

Moore was never a solution to anything...just like Moen, Eager, Nichol and Malhotra weren't either...

well, except in DW's fantasy world...Personally I think someone has tampered with his NHL 12 roster settings...

I don't have expectations... I just have an impending feeling of doom.

Umberger, Kulemin, Kostitsyn seem like the guys available from non-playoff teams.

Perhaps DW's conversations with Howson can go from Nash to Umberger like DL's conversation went from Carter + Richards to Carter (or like DW's conversation with O'Connel went from Samsonov to JT)....

same here...

Best case scenario: we lose yet another pick for yet another worthless grinder

Worst case scenario: we give up picks, prospects and roster players for a bad contract

I would definitely like Kostitsyn, although I doubt he would resign...and of course DW would never trade for him

I don't think Eager, Nichol, and Malhotra were supposed to be "the solution". They were trying to get bottom-six depth. All of those guys came for just salary or a low pick.

The Sharks go as their top players go. Too many of their top players are not producing right now; that is the problem.

Our top players are the only ones producing. Or have you not seen Marleau's 6 points in 3 games?

I guess that is my point though...DW makes "depth moves" as if it will solve the problem that the top 6 just don't produce come playoff time and the 3rd line hasn't had offensive potential in years...

Marleau in my opinion is one of the leading playoff performers and actually avoids most of my criticism....has had two hat tricks in recent playoffs if I recall correctly...although while his speed is amazing and his shot is quite good, he still lacks the "game breaker" factor

What is this "game breaker" factor you speak of? Sorry not everyone can be Malkin when Pittsburgh won the cup.

Marleau is the biggest game-breaker on the team. Unless we have different definitions?

Yea, not everyone can be a game breaker, thats why they are a rare commodity and get paid extra for that fact... But basically I just mean a player who has an extra gear, who when the seconds are ticking down wants the puck on his stick, holds on to it, makes a creative play and then roofs it, rather than just dumping it into the corner and hoping to go dig it out and maybe get a lucky bounce

I'm not saying goals have to be pretty, but the sharks definitely tend to look really terrible in the last 10 minutes of the game when they need a goal, simple breakouts and neutral zone transitions seem to be Herculean tasks for them

Yea, I agree too, although Pavelski is definitely a close second in my opinion as he definitely wants the puck and has a great shot, just isn't quite fast enough for zone entries....however, compared to what other teams have I think Marleau is lacking a bit... (Kovalchuk, Malkin, Gaborik, Datsyuk, Hossa etc etc)

I really had high hopes at the start of the season that Havlat would be that guy, and I still hope that when he comes back from injury he can be!

EDIT: Mafoofoo: sorry if my comment rubbed you the wrong way, am really not trying to fight, just an honestly held opinion after watching years and years of heart wrenching sharks failures that seem to always follow a similar script...

I'm going to be busy and will completely ignore the deadline. I'll check what did or didn't happen around 1 pm or so.

I'll always have a bit of a beef against Marleau since he didn't take a home-town discount like Thornton did.

There are other top players besides Marleau and Thornton.
