Ovi is having a horrible season relative to his standards. But he almost got 40 goals, most of them coming in march it seemed. Still a monster

Hah, Eric Duhatschek ‏seems mad.

Congrats to Cgy for finishing with two meaningless wins, thus earning with best record among non-playoff teams and the worst draft position

Apparently he got the game puck as well, in a game in which Stamkos hit 60.

Now that the EC matchups have been set, I can see Ottawa pulling off the 1st round upset on the Rangers...that said, they would draw Boston in round 2 IF they beat Washington, which they likely will as Ottawa hasn't fared to well against Boston this season. I think a Boston-Philly or Boston-Pitt series will be your EC final.

Watched a Panthers game live for the first time since moving here (via Edmonton and Toronto). Wow, their backend is calm and can move the puck effectively up the ice - and I don't mean long stretch passes. Their forward line-up? A bunch of scrubs except for Weiss.

Barker, Peckham and the broken Whitney can say bye-bye. Oilers need to remake their D.

Yup. The defence needs to be torn down. The Oilers had 21 goals from their defence all year and Smid was the leader with five. It's completely ineffective at moving the puck.

I noticed that, too. Campbell has had a huge resurgence, Jovanovski is a calming veteran presence, Gudbranson and Kulikov are studs, and Mike Weaver has been a revelation for them as well.

Say yes to Jason Garrison July 1st.

Larry Brooks actually wrote an article somewhat well written:

Quote:
As If there had been any previous doubt, this week’s events demonstrated once and for all the Penguins are the NHL’s version of Made Men, not only untouchable but protected by the authorities against insult.
http://www.nypost.com/p/sports/more_...#ixzz1rSuv60oT

Not sure I agree with it, but it does bring up some nice points.

If nothing else, throws more gasoline into the fire in a potential Rangers vs. Pens post-season meeting

My thoughts exactly. There are still some pretty good prospects mid 1st. They could end up with one of Ceci, Gaunce, Pouliot or Finn at that range.

At that point of the draft it's more a matter of who your scouts are than what your pick is. If last year is any indication, the Flames should be fine.

Rangers > Senators (5)
Bruins > Capitals (5)
Panthers < Devils (5)
Penguins > Flyers (7) - Wanted to say Flyers, but I don't have any faith in Bryzgalov

Canucks > Kings (6)
Blues > Sharks (6) - Wanted to say the Sharks, but their offensive depth and goaltending worries me.
Coyotes < Hawks (7)
Predators > Wings (7)

I just saw Ryan clowe play where he plays the puck from the bench. Lol didn't this happen after the Schultz incident. When things happen, they happen in bunches

Is there any kind of statistical analysis out there of the Leaf's collapse this season? Like were they overachieving until February like the Wild were and just regressed to the mean? Or did they honestly just start playing worse.

This Brian Burke press conference is hysterical, btw.

I'm struggling this year to make picks. I wanted to go with Van-Chi out of the west on one of my pools, but the only way that every happens if SJ or LA wins in round one. I hate to take STL players as they won't get many points, but looking at how things can shake out they could very easily be in the Conference finals.

No work will get done today, that's for sure.

They had no goaltending all year. Lupul was playing like an all-star. It was only a matter of time before that team collapsed. The best thing is Burke will add yet another UFA this year and people will think everything is going to be alright in Leafs land, once again.

I know a key thing he said was that he made fun of the Pittsburgh model. Actually dissed them winning the lottery (or what I got from a post on the main board).

Holy hell is this guy delusional.

He may actually trade his pick for Nash or someone.

I can see it and I'd laugh my ass off. I guess it wouldn't be such a terrible trade. Is there a talent at 5 that will be as good as Nash? My problem with Nash is that he is far overpaid for what he brings to a team.

If you have the cap space it doesn't really matter, but Burke doesn't so let him get yet another shoot first player to play with Kessel and Lupul.

He's just jumping on the "piss on Penguins" bandwagon.

From the main board, a bit of a summary:

Quote:

Wouldn’t trade McArthur for a 1st-round pick to a team that might pick 26-30th. He said that Leaf fans would then have to wait three years for that asset to become a player, if it became a player, and he doesn’t want Leaf fans to wait.

Dissed the “Pittsburgh model” for building a team, saying they won a lottery (Crosby). No mention of Malkin, Fleury, Orpik and Whitney.

Carlyle was great, Burke yikes!

Burke says that roster will have to change to suit Carlyle's coaching style.......the UFA and trading market ain't what it used to be..........

Burke said no one was complaining about Reimer prior to his concussion (which apparently wasn't a concussion but a neck injury)
