Cool GDT! I hope today doesn't turn out to be a disappointment.

First, I would like to see Reasoner gone. Just as useless as Rolston.

Second, I would go out of my way to sign PA.

Finally, trade Eaton, Nabby and Okposo for as much as possible, especially a top pairing D-man.

top pairing dmen are so easy to find...like trees made of gold bricks..none of the players are getting you a stud dman

This is our playoffs, the draft is our cup. Lets see if we can win for once

As usual Law will probably out do management today.

i fully expect nothing to be done today. They SHOULD see if they can either re-sign PA and Nabakov and if they cant ship them out to the highest bidder but they wont.

This is both hilarious and terribly depressing at the same time

I'm saying that Nabby goes to CHI, goaltending is just in shambles out there. Not sure what comes back, but I don't see him re-signing and deadline day is when teams gets nervous, jumpy, and overpay.

PA gets signed for 4-5 year deal around 2:45p.

Also thinking Eaton goes to PHX for a draft pick or something.

What I would like to see the NYI do today....

1)Trade KO, Bailey and a 2013 1st to ANA for Bobby Ryan

2)Trade Nabby to CHI for Dylan Olsen

3)Trade PA to NASH for Ryan Ellis & a 2nd

Sadly Garth thinks we can still make the playoffs & won't do anything. We will then lose Nabby & PA for nothing in FA because other teams will overpay for their services.

As of this morning, no change on Nabokov front. Isles intend to re-sign. News on this throughout the day. #tradecentre

I read that he's getting some interest too. I hope they move him. I thought the whole point at the start of the season was holding onto Nabokov hoping he'd play well enough to flip for a return. Mission accomplished, but now they will not sell him. I think you have to sell high, since the rebuild seems to be a year or two behind schedule. Acknowledge that and jumpstart the preparations for next season rather than pretending they're going to make the playoffs this year. When a 36 year old has a career year, it's probably an anomaly. Use it to get a return.

I do understand the need for a steady goaltender to bridge the gap to Poulin, but there always seem to be good goaltenders available in FA. Vokoun was signed for a song this past offseason.

The only one of those deals I could see happening is Olsen for Nabby. Perry was never on the block for anything less than a severe overpayment. Why in the world would Nashville trade us Ellis for a rental when they might end up losing Suter, and (longshot) possibly trading Weber?

Because he wanted to play for a contender. If Nabokov will re-sign, do it. You can't trust this team to be able to add a key player in free agency.

Garth needs to call Nabokov's agent right now, give him Garth's best offer, and say either accept it or provide a list of team Nabokov would waive his NT for by 11:00.

PLEASE trade Nabokov while he's worth something! The guy is old and WILL NOT be as good next season...

Vokoun also overpriced himself and did not get the offers he thought he would get. To your point, I'm sure he wouldn't have signed with the Isles for just $1.5m, but if there's any position the Isles have been able to get decent players lately, it's in the net. Some good goalies just don't get the offers anymore, for whatever reason. Roli ended up with the Isles knowing it was a dicey situation with DP signed long term but battling injury...Nabby ended up in Russia.

"Honestly I didn't have a whole lot of offers," Vokoun said Sunday. "The money side, it's not great, but the opportunity is unbelievable. Obviously it was a disappointing day for me, July 1. For whatever reason, I was basically in the bad spot and Washington came in."

McKenzie saying the same as of a few minutes ago on NHLNET. Nabby will not be traded even if he rejects Snow's offer.

My prediction:

Nabokov resigns 2 years
PAP not traded and not resigned
Eaton for a 4th
Pandolfo for a 6th
One minor move for Bport playoff push

Assume the last part is your opinion.

McKenzie or Dreger (can't recall which one said it on the panel) also mentioned that the sticking at the moment may be a NMC. Interesting that money, years, and re-signing with the Isles may not be on the list of obstacles.

How long is the contract? If it is 2 years or less, give him the NMC.

No mention, but can't imagine more than 2 years as he's 36 years old.

"Teams still being told Evgeni Nabokov not available, which severely decreases the chances Toronto trades for goalie. Probably to zero."

I'm a little confused with Parenteau. He says in Newsday today that he wants to stay here. Why not try to sign a deal before the deadlne or say trade me so he can join a contender?

Seriously. On a two-year deal, who cares? If you're actually going to trade him, he's going to someone who wants him, so it's not like you can't ask him to waive it.

Probably just a negotiating tactic.
