I doubt Chicago will be interested, since Montoya has been average at best. More likely they go after another established veteran like Khabibulin, or possibly try for Josh Harding.

You would have to think Snow will shop him. Chicago definitely fits the need for Montoya. I may be wrong, but I believe Garth said in a newsday article that he wanted to go forward next year with Nabby/Poulin between the pipes

You can't blame either side for the way this is playing out.

PA is rightly looking to get paid, he's not 22 and he's a UFA not an RFA. He may never have another season like this one, so he wants to make sure his future is set with this contract. He's going to want around what Neal got in Pittsburgh (5m per).

That said, you can't make PaP your highest paid player.... he should be making less than Streit/Tavares but more than KO/Grabner.... more along the lines of what Moulson got.

At this juncture, the best move to make is to trade him for as much as you can get. Then offer him Moulson money in the offseason and hope he bites.

I think they might pull off a trade to one of the contending teams that need backup help. But I'd expect very little in return, if we get a 5th for him I'd be happy. But for this to happen, the market must be pretty barren in goalies, not just top goalies, but goalies in general.

Part of me always hopes not a single move gets made on a deadline day by any team so Dreger, McKenzie, and Co. can sit there on TSN for 7 hours and twiddle their thumbs.

This was a foreseeable risk with PA when they signed him to a 1 year deal after last year when he had a good season. Those are the risks you take, now Garth is left scrambling. It's interesting. He signed Grabner to 5 years after 1 good year off of waivers, but signed PA to a 1 year deal after a solid year. Players notice these things. Now PA wants to get paid, and Garth has to make a decision: Pay the man, let him walk in July, or get a late 1st round pick. I say pay the man, but chuck wang is a stubborn fool who doesn't like terms being dictated to him, so I can't see PA sticking around.

The majority of the fanbase was outraged that Snow offered PA a contract extension last season b/c while he produced statistically, he possessed a lot of holes in his game. But this year, PAP made huge strides and developed in a big way.

Tough to blame Snow for the way this plays unless you think PAP is worth 5 years at 5+ mill per year. I certainly don't.

Keep PA with a 4 year/$37m contract and Nabby with a 3 year/ $17m

Get rid of Okposo and a 3rd rounder to PHX for Yandell

Get rid of Jurcina and a 2nd rounder to MTL for Desharnais

I'm not blaming him, but it was a risk. The question is who are you going to get to replace him in free agency at a cheaper price when he leaves?

PA has a chance to get a big paycheck, why turn it down? If he goes somewhere else so be it, he has earned his money

1.) You're joking right? For the sake of humanity, tell me you're joking.

2.) As much as I am laughing at you for the above, Phoenix would laugh even more if that's all the Isles offered for YANDLE. So once again...

3.) While I wouldn't mind that deal, the Isles don't believe in giving up draft picks even though most of them turn out to be garbage.

And everyone else in the league! That contract would make Parenteau the highest paid player in hockey.
