What a surprise no goal in the first! Totally agree! First period already looks like a 1 nothing shutout!

I really like how Nashville forechecks. 2 men pressuring but one guy on each defender. Much better than the kings current system.

They also attack the middle of the ice more by taking the puck off the boards trying to make plays in the middle. They also rarely have any forwards sitting along the boards waiting for a cycle they move to the the boards only after the puck is in route there.

Really wish the kings would adopt this system.

Pretty good back and forth. Looking forward to seeing how we respond.

+1
I feel Kopitar has been playing well tonight. He keeping the puck and getting chances. Now lets convert that in to some goals

I would rather watch porn than these two teams. For all the praise some Kings fans give Tippet and Trotz, these two guys play really boring hockey.

May be a bit harsh but I'm growing tired of Lewis. He gets so many chances just doesn't finish.

The puck is just being chopped all around the rink tonight, forcing the players to react rather than plan ahead. Both teams are contesting each and every loose puck down to the nanosecond.

It's why I fear that will be the only goal of the game. We'll see, though. Maybe we can grind the Preds down and deplete some of their energy after another 20-30 minutes of this.

I thought it was a good period. Chances at both ends. Doughty with a nice assist on the goal.

That said, the game is likely over. Nashville is 15-1-2 when leading after 1. Kings are 2-9-4 when trailing after 1. A bit depressing that the NHL has become this predictable.

Heh I disagree I didn't think that was a boring period. Far from a snooze fest.

In fairness to Lewis, he didn't have much of a scoring chance.

I wouldn't call that a well played first. They allowed almost as many turnovers in that period than you should in an entire game. Those are credited turnovers, that doesn't count the half dozen soft passes that hit the Predators. You'd think those bright and nasty jerseys would be a warning sign.

First five minutes were near dominance. After that they definitely got it taken to them.

Refreshing to see this team start games with jump so consistently
though. Gotta bottle that somehow.

Totally disagree. The Preds play with great pace and they keep you on your toes. The Kings seem to be matching that (so far) tonight.

It's always the same though. The guy just doesn't have good hands in close in my opinion. I guess I saw all of the top third of the net open just needed to raise the puck more.

Again prob a bit harsh but he is just not doing it for me.

Even when Lewis gets a chance where does the puck go, LA needed to make a small move like a few teams did today that would've helped the team. Nolan is not looking very good, between him and Richardson I'm not really sure who needs to be playing.
