Last year we made the playoffs. You don't trade roster players for picks during a playoff run.

Good thinking Bobby

Is your theory that PG turned down better offers? 'Cause my theory is that "the other names mentioned" were never more than rumours.

Please, the AK experiment blew up in our faces. This team needs to be rebuiilt and AK is not going to help with that. I'm amazed that there is so much crying over this guy. Incredible!

Solid trade, he has 24 pts this year and we aren't making the playoffs. He will be a UFA. If we want him, we can still sign him if he tests the market. Finally we're getting picks back instead of letting players walk for nothing..

Not a fan at all of this trade if the alternative was resigning him at his current cap hit or less.

If AKost wanted out, then I suppose this is the most we could have expected for him, but most reports had him wanting to resign with us, so...

Like others said, 20 goal scorers don't grow on trees, and are worth more than a 2nd Rd Pick from a playoff team, imo. Especially when they're only in their mid-20s like AKost is.

We will see about that genius watch nashville resign him and be a perennial 50 points scorer while ye get greg pateryn and cry about this trade in about 2-3 years.

It's a freakin horrible deal the management drops the ball yet again.

I'm starting to think that the only guy that knows something about hockey in there is Timmins other are just Clowns.

2013 draft lol whoopsie tout dli doo.

I can understand a rebuild but end of the day, overpaid and useless vets in kaberle and gomez will still be here. Why is AK the problem?

Ridiculous trade.

Its better to re-sign a 20 goal scorer than trade him for magic beans.

You are overrating fluctuations in trade value.

Andrei is a 6 year NHL vet, his trade value is already been established long ago.

I'm happy we didn't lose him for nothing.

It was time to part with him.

If this happened, it's not Gauthier's (Molson's) fault. This was probably the best offer they had for him. What I can't understand is why his value is so low.

For sure. Basu unlike many of us is intelligent. As an inconsistent 20 goal scorer and an UFA...You could not expect more than that. However, this team has indeed lost a legit goal-scoring threat. Hopefully, we will be able to draft a solid player with the second. Subban was a 2 round draft pick guys.

We traded a second and a fifth last year for Wisniewski who was a UFA having a career year, we just traded Kostitsyn who is a UFA having a rough year for a second and a fifth..

I'm one of Kostitsyn's biggest fans and he was misused here but its hard to expect anything more than a second rounder with the year he's had, also he's been average so far in the playoffs during his career.

I'm going to miss him but both sides needed a change of scenery IMO..

I wonder if there is a possibility Andrei will re-sign with us in the summer.

I hope the Habs make a transaction that will actually help this team. I get a feeling were just going to dump a few players and that will be it. As of late the Habs don't do anything at the deadline.
