IF WE KEEP THOSE PICKS. Or IF we deal those picks for something REALLY valuable.
RC caused that value by taking Kostitsyn away from Eller for no reason to play him with Gomez.

Big time! 2013 is strong draft. Nashville could be minus Weber and Suter next year and Calgary will likely slip in the standings. I like the idea of stockpiling these picks. Great for the future.

Next year's draft is better/deeper than this year's draft.

We already have Nashville's 2nd rder in 2012 in the Gill trade. Perhaps other teams weren't offering a 2nd for AK.

Don't like this trade. We have done it again. We buy high and sell low. The Montreal Canadiens mismanage and badmouth players til they destroy any trade value and then when the value is at it's lowest we trade them for much less than their true value.
This one will come back to bite us, big time.

good job PG. He has made some great trades this yr other than the Kabs deal. we have a ton of picks now but nobody cares because we have greedy fans who just want Blum or Radulov. No way Nash gives up either of them for a BUM like AK. You guys are kidding right?

Agreed. Kostitsyn may be more valued on message boards due to his "potential" but at the trade deadline, he's worth less than a guy like Hal Gill.

This. Of course his value was at its lowest. Benched and playing with Gomez. Should have dealt him the moment that Eller had his 4-goal night. Or should have foregone the conditional and held out for their 2nd this year.

Ak46 was on avg a 20 GOAL SCORER for Mtl.
can we take a 2nd round pick straight up, and buy another 20 goal scorer?

Andrei will be a 30 goal man in NASH.

I hope you sign with Bruins next year AK46

Meh I can't say I like this trade, but with the season basically over, at least they got something for Andrei.
And if he still fits in MTL's plans, they can just re-sign him in the off-season.

If Nashville wins the Stanley Cup (big if, yes), #Habs can change their total to 24 1/2

The 5th isn't a conditional anymore.. we got it back

He was obviously not in the club's plan. I'll take a 2nd+5th instead of watching him leave for nothing at the end of the season.

I heard that for Ribs, Lats, SKost, Grabs....and yet, those guys were and are competing eveyr night now. What we need is not to get rid of guys who strangely aren't competing here. It's building teams and have a managemenet who will make players better than they actually are and make them compete every single night.

How the heck is this city seen as a city when you can never take a break 'cause the media and the fans will let you know about it and yet, this team as seen the most guys being traded mostly for lack of supposed effort of all the teams in the NHL?

From 1997-2005 a pick in the 26-50 ranges had a 15% chance of being a top-6 forward/top-4 dman. 51-100 is 7.4% Figure the Habs have about a 12% chance of drafting a decent player (bump that up by say 10% to 13.2 since Timmins is damned good what he does).

While I'm reading that 2013 looks like a better draft crop than 2012 the value of time probably makes the improvement between the draft classes negligible at best when acquiring the draft picks.

With the return so paltry I would have preferred to see the Habs play chicken with the deadline to see if they could get at least a first.
