Team MVP

Well 3/4ths the way through the season, and we have two very likely candidates, along with Anderson taking up the rear in spot number three.

I think most of us can agree that we would fail horribly without Karlsson or Spezza. But who do we actually consider to be our MVP going into the home stretch of the season?

There were whispers of Spezza and a Hart nomination not more then a week or two ago, but maybe the wrong guy from Ottawa was in that conversation.

I'd say its hard to choose either karlsson/spezza. But I'll go with spez, michalek's resurgence, butler looking like he belongs in the NHL and greening playing on the top line are due to him. Given with what he has to work with, I say he has done a hell of a job.

(karlsson is another animal though and I have no problem with people picking him)

Actually no, its not easy. A fair case can be made for all of Spezza, Karlsson and Anderson. Andy's gotten the Molson Cup 2 months in a row now and few games pass by without him getting a 3 star selection. The guy single handedly keeps the team in games and has robbed more than his fair share.

Spezza is our leading scorer and top 5 in the NHL. Does it all without top 6 wingers a lot of the time. Had Michalek on pace to score 50 for quite awhile.

Karlsson is the offensive catalyst and #1 D. Plays the tough minutes and breaks out of the zone better than any other player in the NHL.

These are 3 very worthy candidates.

It's either EK65 or Spezza. Honestly? Between those two it's a tossup, but I'll say EK. He powers our offensive production from the blueline, which has been the difference between our team winning and losing.

Anderson isn't in the conversation. We could put 15 (or more) other goalies into his spot and expect the same middle of the pack results (or better).

This is all very true, and even though I voted Karlsson, what Spezza has done with what he's been given to work with is truly remarkable. Its almost to close to call, but since I made the poll, I felt it necessary to vote

Voted Spezza.

It was close between him and Karl.

We've got co-MVPs

Spezza and Karlsson carry this team's attack seemingly on their own. The job they've done together has put us well ahead of anyone's expectations, while they are both top 10 in league scoring, and between the two they have missed 1 game this year.

It's a tie. The shiny new toy wins byway of shiny new toy bias.

Reason why I said Karlsson, easily is because he's been the most consistent. Most he's gone without a point is 4 games. That's absolutely remarkable while +15.

Spezza is being overlooked here bigtime... He has played most of the year with Greening(meh at best) Michalek(streaky...but ice cold at times) and Butler(Garbage until 2 weeks ago)

While still above PPG playing against top Dmen on the other team with him being the only real threat on his line...

Why is Alfie not an option?

How many times has he lead us out of a bad situation and given us a chance?

He is our go to on the shoot out.

You could make a case for any of the three. I'll take Spezza, though.

There is only 1 MVP... and it's Karlsson. Get over it.

The attack starts at the blueline, and EK is typically the quarterback. This team isn't as successful on offense without his contribution, giving Anderson more to work with.

Karlsson's my choice for team MVP.

It's Karlsson for me. While Spezza has had a great season, Karlsson is only 6 points behind him. The offense runs through him from the back-end, and he plays against top lines each night where most of the time he does a very solid job defensively.

I chose Karl, but the distance between the two in their impact with the team this year isn't as wide apart as the poll would suggest. Spezza is right there.

Pretty much this. #1C and #1D are very important pieces and I have a hard time deciding which I prefer. I'll probably go with Karlsson because I feel he's the bigger part of our breakout and our PP.

While Karlsson is having a better season, I think Spezza is more valuable to the team. He makes everybody around him better. Moreso than Karlsson does, imo.

Spezza MVP.

Without Spezza or Karlsson, this team is even worse. We were winning games with mediocre goaltending earlier in the year. No question Anderson has been outstanding lately and has stolen a few for us, hes still waaaay behind in terms of value to the team imo.

Edit: And whoever voted other is kidding themselves if they think Alfredsson is still our MVP. He's our heart and soul, but not the most valuable player on this team.

In all fairness, without any one of those three, we are not in a playoff position.

I picked Karlsson because when he has an off game, we don't win. Spezza can have off games and we've won and same with anderson (beginning of the year). But you could easily make a case for any one of those players.
