Is Connolly really a nobody? He's putting up AHL numbers similar to Olver last year in the AHL at the same age. I've also seen him listed at 5'11" elsewhere.
And is a former NCAA standout, something the Avs always love.

I'm very skeptical about these guys. I've seen nothing to suggest he plays with the intensity and physical play that Olver does, and that's really the only reason Olver survives. Yes, skilled and talented, but Olver plays with the pedal to the metal and that's the deciding factor for me.
That'd give us three scoring lines to roll. I hope that McGinn could protect the other two, though, since they'll be likely matched up against physical forwards. Either that or they'll be a non-traditional 3rd line.

Hockey DB has him at 5' 11" 175 lbs. TSN, ESPN, and NHL.com have him at 5' 9" 180 lbs. If I had to guess, I would guess the later.
I can't say how much I love the moves Sherman has made the past few weeks. Adding Downie and McGinn is fantastic. Its not only a move for now, its a move for the future too. I've questioned him as a GM in the past but I think he's been one of the most impressive GM's around the deadline. Well done sir.
Sherman is putting together a skilled team that will be hard to play against. This move sets the stage for them to move Duchene back to the middle as well, putting together 3 lines that can put the puck in the net. I bet when McGinn arrives, Olver may be the odd man out (unfortunately) and Duchene moves back to center with Mueller and McGinn.
This team is also lacking in skilled forward prospects. Hishon hasn't played all year, and Olver is just now getting back into it. Malone is more of a grinder than anything. Maybe Connolly is a nobody, but he's 22 years old and would be the 2nd leading scorer in Lake Erie in terms of forwards. And now you add Sgarbossa, who will be in Lake Erie next year as well, and suddenly this team has some real good depth moving forward.
The only thing I'm wondering is why Barrie is still up with the big team. Send him to the AHL and let him play.
If Connolly and Sgarbossa make it to the NHL, where would they be? 2nd line?
Best case a second liner with 60pt upside... likely that he will be a 3rd liner who can chip in from time to time and fill in the top 6 for short time if needed.
Can someone set the record straight on McGinn? I've been seeing mixed reports all over the place saying he doesn't hit that much, he does hit a lot, he's a good two way player, he's not that good of a two way player?
Anybody that's seen him a lot care to comment?
McGinn hits a lot. Great speed, it almost seems like he's charging people with how hard he hits them. He murdered Aaron Rome last year in the playoffs. He'll fit right in with Colorado's speed game. Just don't ask him to do heavy lifting carrying the puck. He's not a playmaker, he could be a solid 3rd line finisher. Maybe more.

I hope they put him on a line with Stastny... I think that could be a great fit.
