Stastny needs more than that on his wing. Though he would probably be more useful than Hejduk right now. I hope he goes to the third line for now unless he really impresses.

That said, our third line will be more of a 1C or 2A line, so what's the difference I suppose.

Exactly what I was thinking...

Lando-O'Reilly-Downie
McGinn-Stastny-Jones/Hejduk
Olver-Duchene-Mueller (if healthy)/Hejduk
Jones/McLeod-McClement-Kobasew

All I know is for the talk of losing depth we seem to have a ton. I just hope it doesn't affect our defense too much. A good offense though...

Gah couldn't log in for most of the day. I'm optimistic about Sherman's moves. I won't lie, he has grown on me (still need some time to evaluate futures) but I am impressed. Sacco still needs to go though...

Not that I (nor anyone else I've ever seen/spoken to) know. Guy's durable as all get out, and hits hard as a freight train, but clean.

What he has is speed, grit, heart, and a great shot.

The two times we've made the playoffs recently we got dismantled by stronger teams. Detroit and San Jose both pounded us physically and we had no shot (Didn't have the skill either, but still). They've changed that now.

Liking the McGinn and Downey moves a lot. Off season is still big to me to see what/if they actually spend a little money outside of their own FA. Obvious needs are a top 6 forward with 5 plus years experience and a top end D.

Easier said than done ...

I guess I'm not a big expert on how the cap works later in the year...but with the Quincey deal and the one today, we dropped like 2.2 million...weren't we like 50,000 over the cap?

I'm not sold we need a top 6 if Hejduk doesn't retire. If he does, we might. Our top 9 is pretty good with Lando, O'Reilly, Downie, Stastny, Dutchy, Mueller, Hejduk, Jones (if re-signed, and not trading him sounds to me like it will happen), and McGinn.

A #2 or #3 D is needed badly.

Good, 9 million to Suter should be do-able then.

I do hope Hejduk retires though, if the rest of this season doesn't change my view.

I'm definitely liking this move. It's tough to see Galiardi go, but neither Gally nor Winnik equals McGinn. Also, Winnik's PK abilities are highly overrated. Just because he would take the puck all the way back into our own zone every once in awhile, and kill extra time, does not make him a spectacular or consistent PK'er. His reflexes and split-second decision making in our own end, on the PK, were not super impressive. Also, Winnik was absolutely terrible offensively. He consistently broke offensive momentum, and made stupid decision after stupid decision. I'm glad to see him go. We get McGinn in return, who is better than both the players we shipped, and we get Michael Sgarbossa who will also end up being better than both Gally and Winnik.

We could've traded Stastny for someone making 1mil and we wouldn't be in trouble with cap floor.

Add him to the list of people that need to be re-signed this summer.

Another 2 months.

He is a RFA. Same age as Gali, 23.

I wouldn't mind these lines:

Landeskog/O'Reilly/Downie
Olver/Stastny/Jones
Mueller/Duchene/Hejduk
McGinn/McClement/Kobasew

O'Reilly line is obvious.
Olver and Jones have been putting up good numbers on a line together. Give Stastny something to work with.
This Duchene line has worked in the past but I don't think we've had this line out there yet this year. Only thing is they have all just come back from injury so might not have their skating legs up to speed yet.
Don't really want to put McGinn on the fourth line but I don't see where else he will fit at the moment. That said, still a great line in my opinion.

McCleod is the odd man out in my line up and I wonder how realistic that is. Will be interesting to see who they sit once McGinn is ready to play. Seems like it would be Olver but he's been on sucha great point streak and playing well since his call up, I want him to stay in the lineup as long as possble.

Really sad to see Galiardi go before getting a chance to play for a real coach, but he was expendable and now he gets a fresh start with a new team.

If it's true we weren't close to re-signing Winnik, then I guess I'd rather deal him now and get something for him.

I don't know much about the guys we got, but I'm liking everything I'm seeing.

McGinn has already updated his Twitter handle, sort of...he now has a pic of one of the Avalanche logos, and under his "Bio" section, now reads "Left Winger for the Colorado Avalanche"...

Hopefully the quick change means that he's genuinely excited

We probably should have got a defenceman instead of Mcginn but i am a fan of his. Would have loved to get Demers, I think we needed a dman, but Hunwick has been playing very well recently. Management seems to be confident in our defense. And Mcginn makes us way harder to play against. The Sharks probably also didnt want to give up a defenseman since I think its always been one of there weaknesses.
