No, they aren't. In the thread on their page there are a couple of posters saying that is good value but a lot of people saying things like:

"2nd and 3rd round picks.. not bad. Will miss you oduya. Good luck in Chicago."

"Not bad. By the sounds of it the Jets were most likely going to lose Oduya to F.A. anyways, so to get something for him is better than nothing."

"Still think we didn't get enough (mostly based on Hal Gill, who is equally as bad as Oduya), but maybe we could package our two seconds in that draft for a late first at some point."

"I don't think it was pathetic at all for you guys. (in response to BWC posting in their thread, at that point the only post being critical of the Hawks)"

I don't hate Oduya I just don't like the trade.

I don't think we can expect Oduya to be anything more than a 3rd pairing D man who skates well, can occasionally pot a goal and be counted on for a bad turnover every few games or so.

not seeing the issues some of you are having here.

noone offer sheets players anymore (well very rare), no point in using that as a reason to not get Oduya

the picks are 2 years away...not this draft but next. we have plenty of time to regain a pick or two by moving some prospects or Frolik in the summer....not seeing the issue there either.

the picks are a 2nd and a 3rd round....I love 2nd round picks as they are becoming much more prevelant and sexy in hockey circles. though Bubba did his study, look at the majority of moves since January and what pick is the most involved...the 2nd. More players then ever are making it from the second round, they are very important picks.

but, you get a proven NHLer in Oduya that will help this blueline. he isnt the answer at all, but at least it is something. he will help level off some of the ice time that Olsen and Leddy are getting, and when Hammer comes back (and God willing Monty) it could work out even better.

I personally would rather have had Hainsey as he is bigger and tougher which is what we needed, but people complaining about getting help on the blueline which we desperately needed for 2 picks in a draft 2 years from now are just being silly. we have our entire stable of picks this year plus the 45 other picks we assembled the past few years, WE ARE RUNNING OUT OF ROOM! It is getting to the point where we might not even be able to draft players in 2013 because we have no room at the ECHL/AHL level....just kidding about that, just making a joke.,

Still don't get it... You really haven't said anything intelligible yet to tell you the truth. Gaustad would have added some things this team sorely needs: PK ability, FO ability, and physicality. I am glad they didn't overpay like Nashville did, but I don't understand what is amusing about the notion that he could have aided this team.

Keep on laughing though, buddy!

Mild overpay imho, but nothing to get too upset about. Hopefully he ups his production back to pre-Thrasher/Jets levels now that he's on a bit more of a skilled team.

I'm anticipating getting Hammer back before Monty, but you never know with those damn concussions.
I was thinking

Keith -- Seabrook
Hjalmarsson -- Oduya
Leddy - Montador
D. Olsen

If we are down a goal obviously Leddy & Montador as the 2nd pairing... And if we were up a goal Hjalmarsson and Oduya both being shot blockers have better defensive abilities. The 2 & 3rd pairing minutes can be determined by which pair gets more minutes based on if we are playing with a lead or down a goal. It makes us more versatile.

no offense to D. Olsen I like him he has been very good. He deserves 20 minutes with Keith however, playoff time he is the 7th defenseman.

Am I the only one who gets a sinking feeling Montador won't be lacing them up again this year? The complete dearth of information on him is concerning at this point to me...could just be me though.

I think Quenneville's been quoted as saying Montador's been showing some progress but still could be done for the year.

There wasn't many sellers this year, thus a lack of trades. The trades that were made, the sellers got a lot.

Yeah giving Oduya Leddy/Olsen minutes will be great

Oduya is 30 yr old who plays D as bad as a 21 yr old and a 20 yr old

Oduya is not a defensive dman. He has always been liablity in his career in his own end
