That is different than laughing at people who wanted him, no? Pretty big difference between wanting someone and wanting someone at an exorbitant price; you can count me in the former of the two. You never stated that though so it is a tad bit hard to give you the benefit of the doubt when all you spew is 5th grade level nonsense.
He was Devils primary PMD and had the greatest goalie in NHL history and rigid D system
He was not good defensively ,, Never has been
Brodeur played 31 games in 2008 - Oduya +21
In 2007, Brodeur was lights out, but Oduya led the team with a +27, next closest was his partner, Paul Martin (who is more porous defensively), with a +20, next after that? +11
He has not always been crap defensively, and Jets fans said he has actually been better as of late and were sad to see him go.

After he was traded for a 1st, people were still saying we should of got him. That's what I was laughing at.

Mike Green 09/10 = +39
Green should have won Norris ,, Guy clearly was the greatest Dman in NHL that year
Sorry but Oduya has been #### for last 2 years and in NJ he was covered for his defensive gaffes
By who?
Oduya was the main piece in the Kovalchuk deal, other teams were offering roughly what we were offering today. Those GMs (GMs of contenders) disagree with you.
If Jet fans were sad to see him go, i'll take their word over yours.

Oduya was not the main piece of Kovalchuk deal
He was spare part
Niclas Bergfors and Patrice Cormier + 1st/2nd were what Thrashers wanted
Yeah giving Oduya Leddy/Olsen minutes will be great
Oduya is 30 yr old who plays D as bad as a 21 yr old and a 20 yr old
Oduya is not a defensive dman. He has always been liablity in his career in his own end
bit dramatic?
he hasnt even laced up his skates in Chicago and you write him off?
you claim he isnt solid defensively, then get the facts put on here of his stellar plus/minus, then you come up with some asanine argument for his plus/minus and how he didnt deserve it......
I know Oduya isnt a shutdown dman, but he is an upgrade over Leddy, Olsen, and Lepisto hands down...he has some solid years no matter the team or goalie, and trying to diminish that is stupid and pointless.
I thought I was bat**** crazy on some of my opinions.....
geez, give the dude a chance before you regulate him to Frolik suckville status....
The only people calling this a horrible deal are typical Chicago fans who are upset that this guy isn't going to single handedly win us a Cup.
So if he isn't going to get us the Cup... why did we trade for a rental?
I still don't see the point of this deal other than throwing away our 2nd and 3rd rounder that we could use for a deal in the offseason or next years trade deadline(when we might have a chance to win the Cup). With Oduya maybe we draft at 20 instead of 17 or something. Great!
Remember when Stalberg was a bust and people were mad he got 2 years at 750,000 a year. Now he is looked at like a gem.
Oduya I don't know much about him other than he sounds like a 4-5th defenseman that was paid more like a 4th defenseman. He clearly had a few big years behind him. We aren't going to see those types of +/- numbers.
Look we probably paid a little heavily for him.... Who cares. Let's see what he can do.
I'm not sold that he is a rental. Welcome to Chicago Oduya! Players and people find ways to stay here. Oduya has things to prove. What was Campoli asking for when we told him to walk... 2.1 million. Anyway, I think Bowman will offer him a contract similar to the way they structured Montador's deal just one year less -- Oduya is a bit older. 2.75 2.75 2.75 throw 4 million at him the first year but keep a cap hit at 2.75
