So if he isn't going to get us the Cup... why did we trade for a rental?
I still don't see the point of this deal other than throwing away our 2nd and 3rd rounder that we could use for a deal in the offseason or next years trade deadline(when we might have a chance to win the Cup). With Oduya maybe we draft at 20 instead of 17 or something. Great!
rental?
stop Bowman tries to resign guys...Campoli lost his mind.... Look he will get offered a deal like this.
I'm not sold that he is a rental. Welcome to Chicago Oduya! Players and people find ways to stay here. Oduya has things to prove. What was Campoli asking for when we told him to walk... 2.1 million. Anyway, I think Bowman will offer him a contract similar to the way they structured Montador's deal just one year less -- Oduya is a bit older. 2.75 2.75 2.75 throw 4 million at him the first year but keep a cap hit at 2.75
So, Oduya is going to wear 27. You know JR is pissed, from his twitter "Really???? Nothing against oduya... But seriously??? Not really happy about that at all. Gotta be honest"
With all the people on here saying Ody sucks and always has.....how many Jets/Thrasher games have you watched the last couple years? or Devils before that? We are not scouts for the Hawks. And probably, that is a good thing for the Hawks that we aren't. Because a couple fly by viewing of a a partial period twice a year does not a scout make.

Personally i have nothing against Oduya (except wearing 27...). BUT this move without the Center move is idiotic.

Didn't JR predict that Sharks would win in 2010 WCF?

LOL, JR being JR.
Bit surprised he got to pick #27 since it's Morins number. Guess no more Morin this year, franky do not understand that.
They should have given Oduya #29 and forced Bickell to change his so he would have gotten pissed off. They must have tried everything else to try and get him going...

The answer to "why did he get Oduya if he wasn't going to upgrade center?" is probably that he was trying to upgrade center the whole time, but the deal just never happened. You can't just tell another GM "well, okay, deal is good, but I want to try to make another deal first before I commit" and expect them to just sit there and hold the guy for you.
According to Stan's logic, he had an upgrade done (it is up to you to decide whether or not Oduya is an upgrade), and he had to do it when it was or risk not getting the upgrade.

Exactly. Listening to twitter they were on Roy right up until the deadline. Don't know what Buffalo was asking for but its a game of poker where you hold on hoping they'll come down to a reasonable price. Its not like he missed out on a 2nd line center that went elsewhere at the deadline.

Totally. You still don't look good waiting for the club on the river when you've ventured a good amount of chips.
Good to see Bowman with a pair. Will give him this upcoming off-season to see what he's built before I out and out turn on him.

Yes it is a game of poker and Stan got smoked. This was by far his worst day as Hawk's GM. He didn't get the job done and giving away those picks will haunt us. Mark my words. Meanwhile Chevy is quietly celebrating and relishing in his robbery.

No franchise has ever been haunted by not having a late 2nd and 3rd round pick. If the Hawks get to the 2nd round and Oduya is playing big minutes, Bowman's bosses will be elated.
/\ Why do I bother!! Need I remind anyone that Saad was drafted 43rd overall in 2011... and 2013 is projected to be a banner draft year. Anyone that thinks we didn't get fleeced by giving up a 2nd and 3rd pick for 2013 for essentially another Campboli (he's probably less a player than Campboli actually) is ....... well, I won't say. My mother taught me that.
