66 Games Oduya has 3 goals for the season
66 Games Keith has 4 goals and a 2% accuracy of hitting bullseye on shots.
Makes sense why Oduya should not get a 4 million a year deal.
I don't care if we resign Oduya or his lack of offense.
The guy fits in on this roster. Obviously we can't overpay. We have 2 #2 defenseman this year in Keith and Seabrook. I more concerned with Keith having 4G's through 66 games. I'm not expecting a Norris year, but 4G's is something I expect from Montador not Keith.
Can we stop complaining about Oduya now?
How much of 2 & 7's lack of performance is related to being over relied on because lack of depth in our defense? Last time I checked, Keith was third in TOI and Seabrook 22'nd...
This Oduya acquisition is HUGE, especially now that Hjalmmarson is back.
Why the hell wait? it's a need. Johns is still 1 and more likely 2 years away. So let's wait on winning a cup for 2-3 years so our prospects can fill the holes we have at C, D, and G. Of course if they don't pan out now we have to wait another 2-3 years so their fill ins can replace them, by then the team has trended down even more and Kane and Toews decided to move on. That's OK of course, we just drafted their replacements.
That logic makes no sense to me, fill the hole now so you can win and let the player develop. If he pans out great he can replace the person you filled the hole with and if he doesn't too bad but now we aren't scrambling to fix something that should have already been fixed. Instead of hoping beyond hope that this one guy solves this problem and having to wait for it.
The above was right on then and it still is. We need some physicality badly, and in the back end particularly. I was willing to wait and see how he does after a pretty good first few game but it is now apparent that JO is even softer than I had thought. This acquisition was another example of Stan getting sucked into paying too much for an overpaid finesse dman that we didn’t need, and will not re-sign in the off season.
Still a good trade, the only thing bad about it was we didn't get a real goalie at the deadline. Oduya's mistakes, while bad, were hardly the reason we lost any of the games in the postseason.
I liked Oduya, but he wasn't nearly this good in his time with the Jets. In fact, he was often considered a liability on the ice. Now he looks like he's returned to his Devils-form.

False. Oduya definitely messed up last game (game 4) and cost us to go down 1-0. 99% his fault on that play. We would have been up 2-1 if that's the case at the end of regulation. Oduya is a turnover machine lately, and last game was awful.

so what he messed up. That's not any worse than Sharp, Kane, Toews not leading the way in the playoffs most of the goals atleast 2/3rds have been scored by role players this series.
1. Scoring leaders not getting it done
2. Crawford soft goals
3. Power play
All of those things are greater contributing factors to losing than Oduya's turnover that didn't happen in the 3rd period or overtime. Sure Oduya was careless, but we aren't getting it done period!
This is an Oduya thread, I'm not here to debate on the rest. Oduya has been awful in this series and has turned the puck over multiple times. Responsible for at least 2 goals against this series. The goal that he was responsible for yesterday was not at all on Crawford.
I hate to say it, but I can't help but think as if once Oduya realized how rough things get in the playoffs, he fizzled out because he didn't want to get hurt and jeopardize whatever contract he'll get in free agency.
